CarComplaints.com Notes: This is a classic example of why you should avoid the first model year of a new car. Sure, it's new and shiny but there's going to be some growing pains.

The 2005 Magnum has problems with the gear shifter getting stuck, a shaky and sometimes stalled engine and transmission failure at 75,000 miles.

Let someone else deal with those headaches.

Magnum 2.7 V6

  • Manual transmission

When you take off at lower rpm the rear end rattles. I've been to the dealer at least 4 occasions and still no help. Now my warranty is up and the rear end differential is out on the car so it also has a loud whining noise.

Magnum SRT V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 26,000 miles

It all started with a major leak coming from under the transmission. Took it in to the dealer and they said it was the seal around the pan and they fixed it. We noticed big spots on the ground where the car was parked and knew it was still leaking so we took it in again. The dealership kept it overnight and we were without transportation. No one offered to rent us a car which is part of the warranty!!! After WE CALLED THEM they told us they couldn't figure out where the leak was coming from and put dye (?) in the oil and needed us to drive it for the weekend then bring it back! We brought it back and they told us it was fixed this time. Hmmmmmm. The leak stopped on it's own right about the same time that the rear end began knocking between third and fourth gear. We then called and left a very assertive message with the service center and were able to get the Service Manager on the phone to voice our complaints. He told us to again bring the car in to the shop! This time we requested a rental and were provided with one for free. They gave us the car back the next day and told us the entire problem was fixed this time. Funny thing is................ The car STILL hesitates and knocks between third and fourth gear!!!! One day it knocked so hard that it made the "Check Engine" light come on in the dash and didn't go off until that evening.

We bought the best extended warranty you could buy and Dishman Dodge in Spokane, Wa. refuses to follow through on repairs or denies that there is a problem needing repairs. We are currently trying to figure out how to get out from under the car and we will NEVER buy another Dodge as long as we live!!

The rear end knocks upon acceleration. Has been in the shop several times for this problem and Chrysler has not come up with a fix for it as of yet.
