CarComplaints.com Notes: This is a classic example of why you should avoid the first model year of a new car. Sure, it's new and shiny but there's going to be some growing pains.
The 2005 Magnum has problems with the gear shifter getting stuck, a shaky and sometimes stalled engine and transmission failure at 75,000 miles.
Let someone else deal with those headaches.

I gave the car some gas as the light turned green and suddenly the gas pedal broke off and fell to the floor. I'm not talking about the foot pad, I'm talking the ENTIRE foot mechanisim. The ENTIRE pedal laid there on the floor. All I could think of was how lucky I was not to be on the highway! I had it towed to the dealer who is charging me $99 diagnostic to look at the ENTIRE pedal mechanism and tell me I need a new pedal which will cost me an addition $249. I gave the pedal no more pressure then you would accelerating from a normal stop when the light turns green with traffic in front of you. There was no stomping on the pedal. I couldnt believe it. I looked behind the mechanism as I sat there in traffic, and had saw that behind the pedal, the plastic that had appeared to attach had broken.
My Dodge Magnum, is a 2005 model with only 25,000 miles. The car is only 5 years old with less then 5000 miles a year put on it!!! And now I have to spend money on a manufacture defect!!! Thank you Dodge, spend my money well, have fun with it!!!
