The contact owns a 2015 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that there was an abnormally strong exhaust odor coming from the vehicle. While attempting to accelerate, the vehicle was hesitating and experiencing a loss of motive power. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the catalytic convertor had failed and needed to be repaired. While having the vehicle inspected, the vehicle received another diagnostic test and the contact was informed of the failure related to Customer Satisfaction Campaign Number: U67 with NHTSA Campaign Number: 10230438 (Engine and Engine Cooling, Unknown or Other, Power Train). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 209,000.
