Rough idle at stop/very low speed but no rpm fluctuations at any higher driving speeds. . Code P0302 will not show up once cleared when I am driving at speeds over 1200 RPM (45-90 MPH) in 6th gear but code shows up again at slow/idling speeds in parking lots or idling at signal light.
All plugs and #2 coil pack replaced, code cleared, no change, code P0302 after 2 miles of slow driving.
Have owned since new, filter and oil changed with 5W20 Castrol every 5000miles. Car does alot of short distance driving , less than 5 miles about 12 times per week with a few 16 mile highway trips in between.
No coolant temp issues as per the coolant temp gauge.
I have NOT changed the PCV valve so maybe oil contamination in intake but that should affect all cylinders not just the #2.
No mechanical noises obvious from engine. Scan tool shows all injectors are within range and similar to each other.
The transmission shifts harder than when new, I did have the trans oil flushed/replaced with new oil but it was all models trans oil from NAPA done approx. 10,000 miles ago. Filter was not changed, I was told there is no filter for this trans by shop, not a dealership shop. Some comments online about TCC solenoid causing issues at idle due to not unloading Torque converter causing idle issues.
Also some talk of CPS causing issues.
Have gone to local Chrysler dealership and explained the issues and what has been done so far to mechanical foreman. His immediate reaction is that the rockers need to be replaced likely due to damaged needle bearings in the roller rocker causing excessive play. Fix estimate $1200-2500 depending on damage found on other rocker arms, lifters and possibly cam.
