Took car in to dodge service was told rotors were out of round and brake pads needed replaced because of rotor condition. To repair with aftermarket parts $290. To replace with OEM parts $390. I wanted to know why at 20 000 miles would this happen if inferior parts were not used to begin with, I was told because of city driving and cold weather/hot weather also added to the problem. Needless to say I was mad being as I had just bought the vehicle and the problem did not start till I was on the expressway and going 70 miles per hour, it does not seem to be a big problem when doing under 40 miles per hour. I drove for a company that had a fleet of these vehicles with over 80,000 miles and none had this rotor or brake issues. Dodge needs to replace these rotors with something better then the Chinese sh*t they put on when they manufactured them.

premature brake rotor problem

This is my second posting but wanted to mention that in 2009 and 2010 the Dodge Journey had Rotor problems which they suggest could be "Rotors being too thin for size of vehicle". We are now in 2015 and the problem continues. We bought a show room model with 56 km and the problem started almost immediately. We thought that perhaps they just needed to be broken in with a few more kilometers but the problem persisted and we finally took the vehicle in at 11,161 km. We were told by the Dealership that the rotors were not covered. But since looking on the internet I noticed that Chrysler extended the warranty to 3 years 36,000 mi from 1 year and 12,000 mi. which the problems occurred in 2009 and 2010.

Please let me know if anyone else has had this problem.

Thank You

Journey Crossroads 3.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 200 miles

Purchased the car brand new. Wife noticed the car shaking while braking when she drove it home for the first time. I drove it the following day and noticed the same, knew immediately it was the rotors. Took car to the nearest Dodge dealer, we bought it 125 miles from home, and they had it fixed within a couple of hours. Chrysler would only turn the rotors, not replace them. That upset me but I was told it was Chrysler's repair guidelines. 400 miles later, we now have another problem that I will be lodging a separate complaint on. Not happy with our purchase at all.
