I had to change out my wife's licence plates. A simple 4 bolt 10 minute job. This turned out to be a 4 hour plus job. The front went easily. The rear plates how ever where a pain. The bolts where seized in spinning. I had to cut the plates off. Then I had to get a small set of vice grips in there. Fiberglass fibre started to appear. It seems the indent under the handle is molded in fiber glass. I had to use self tapping screw to mount the plate with new holes. The job is still not done as now.
I am into body work to repair these holes. why would engineers not just stamp out the rear hatch and not over complicate the process? I am extremely disappointed with this. I guess I have to get out a magnet next time I go new car shopping... what a pain. I am looking at body work now to fix this issue, unbelievable that these designer can not think far enough ahead to realize that at some point a cost saving measure like this could jeopardize their reputation over about a buck worth of body metal. Shame on you.
