While removing a flat tire in my garage, which was dry and a completely flat surface, the jack that was provided by Dodge for this purpose failed just as I was removing the tire from the lug nut studs. The vehicle fell off the jack. Fortunately my hand was back out the way when the inner fender well hit the back half of the tire being removed. I placed the jack as the manual shows and followed the removal instructions. Transmission was in park, brake was set. The rear wheel was not blocked but the vehicle was setting level inside my garage as previously stated. The scissor jack and the lifting screw appears to have twisted, possibly from a flawed condition or the jack is too flimsy for the weight of the vehicle. ( See photos) My Journey has under 16,000 miles.
I provided the above information to a dealer who supposedly forwarded it to Chrysler for warranty review. Their response thus far to me is they will not fix the fender damage or replace the jack even though it appears this condition was caused by the failure of a jack that should be a part of the original bumper to bumper factory warranty. I feel this failure could definitely be a real safety hazard, especially if you are trying to change a tire along a road side area that is no where near as flat as a concrete garage floor
