Both front tie rods were completely worn out at under 40,000 miles and had to be replaced. This is well under the industry standard of 65,00-80,000 and presents a significant risk to the driver and passengers. This vehicle is so poorly engineered that Dodge should offer to give all customers new vehicles for free. There are way too many issues in the engineering of this vehicle.
What a Joke......I replaced the stock rims on my vehicle with aftermarket , and was informed by my mechanic that the tie rods on my vehicle was very badly worn and they were unable to do an alignment. They suggested I call a Dodge dealer to ask if there was anything they could do for me, since at 31000 kms, it was very unusual to be replacing tie rods on a vehicle that soon. I phoned a fellow that I knew worked at a dealership.....He informed me it was totally normal to be replacing tie rods in a vehicle with low kilometres on it because he had to replace his own on his car at 18000 kilometres.
I also talked to another friend who works at the same dealership and he said it was because thats how they build new cars now!!.
This is a joke really. I have always been concerned that ,to me, Dodge had a sh*tty build quality.Now I am convinced of this. the only thing my friends at the dealership wanted to do for me was SELL me an extended warrantee.
I have had a number of different cars and have put an incredible amount of miles on every single one I have had. ( 360,000kms on a Ford Thunderbird, and 450,000 kms on a Mazda) and I have never had ANY that have had the kinds and frequency of problems that this vehicle has....I have replaced the brakes after only 22000 kms, and had to have the circuit board in the drivers side window rebuilt in order to work after only 16000 kms .....If you are contemplating buying one of these vehicles, don't....they are literally a pc of sh*t.........With the price of a vehicle nowadays, they should last more than 31000 kms before they start falling apart......And I'm certainly not hard on the vehicles I drive!
The front struts, inner tie rods needing replacement at 19529 worries me for two reasons. First is the safety of my family driving while these parts failed. Nothing happened but it makes me worry about the rest of the suspension parts that havent shown signs of failing yet. Second is , it was under warranty but should have lasted a lot longer than that.
