Sometimes doors can not be unlocked with the remote neither with the lock-unlock button. The problem is more often with the passengers and rear (5th) door. The driver's door does not fail. Passengers can not open the doors to enter or leave the vehicle. This could be dangerous in case of an emergency.

I am not able to open any doors except the driver door. The trunk will not open and Dodge did not build a manual key entry for this model. Also I have a starting problem the car stalls and won't start unless I put it in neutral or jiggle the gear up into drive and back into park. The car turns very slowly when making left hand turns and the engine revs up sometimes when it's trying to pick speed back up after a turn. The dealer told us it was the battery and we had them install a new one but the issue is still there. I've read several complaints about the same issue. Customers getting their batter, starters all the recalls updated because they were told those were the issues but was not as their issue still existed as do mine. I don't want to spend a fortune at the dealer until they find what the problem is. The manufacturer should know what the problem is from all the complaints being the same. I emailed them for suggestions of what they think it may be and they just said take it to the dealership.

While in the drive through car turned off and I couldn't stop and scraped the driverside fender on a yellow barrier pole. I thought it was a fluke (a wtf moment) so I never worried about it again. It still cuts off every now and again but I am usually parked or moving slowly. I did get pulled over one time when the car cut off and to stop I had to put it in park so I wouldn't run a stopsighn onto hwy 99. (he let me go) went for the recall on the ignition sat for over an hour only to be told they dont have the replacement part or know when they will have it. On many occasions I am unable to get the car to start. When this happens I have to place the car in neutral and try again. The car will start once placed in neutral. Whenever there is a thunderstorm the driverside rear door will fill up with water from the outside. If I slam the door hard the water will flow out of the bottom. Front brakes grind and squeek no matter if the pads are new or have been on for a while. (I tried new rotors to) wiring recall was fixed only to do the samething as before months later.

The cause of the starting failure was unknown. The manufacturer was notified but did not offer any assistance. The failure mileage was 10,900.

Journey 6-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 20,000 miles
The contact owns a 2009 Dodge Journey. While driving approximately 25 mph and approaching a stop sign, the contact depressed the brake pedal to the floorboard and the vehicle hesitated to stop. The contact drove the vehicle slowly to the dealer for diagnostics where the technician advised that the front and rear brakes were worn and would have to be replaced, as well as the rotors. The contact also noticed that the rear passenger side door was holding water in the interior and would leak from the bottom of the door when the door was opened. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000. Updated 01/24/12 the consumer also stated in December 2009, the vehicle would randomly not start. After letting the vehicle sit for about 15 minutes, it would then start. There were problems with the transmission, exhaust pipes rusting, and doors holding in water. Update 01/27/12

Every time it rains, both rear passenger doors fill with water. When opening and closing the doors, the water inside can be heard. The water slowly leaks from the doors, but it takes 2-3 days for it all to leak out.
