Washed my vehicle beginning of April, noticed on rear door (trunk) that numerous small patches of paint (small bubbles) appeared from the top of the trunk door to the bottom, nothing on bumper nor any other place on vehicle. Took it to dealer and 1st person to inspect the vehicle said that I must have had an accident and had it repaired and it was a bad paint job... NO... did not have accident and I take my car to the same dealer since I purchased it in 2009 and I did not have a paint job.
Waited 2 weeks and called back again last week, 2 weeks after first stopping off and spoke to the manager, he told me he was not aware of the problem I had on my vehicle but said he had at least 3 - 4 other Dodge journeys with the same problem and he said that it was probably caused due to rustproofing... we should only rustproof with Dodge rustproofing. I have never heard of this before. The manager said that the rear door (trunk) was made of polymere (sic) and that should not be rustproofed. Maybe they should tell us this when we purchase the vehicle not 4 years later. Very upset. Anyone have similar problems. Thanks you.
Update from May 18, 2013: Glad to let you know that I received a call from the dealer and I have an appointment on June 10th to have the complete trunk door changed. They still claim (the dealer), that the problem was caused from having my vehicle rustproofed, I WENT TO 3 different rust proofing garages and all 3 have said that the paint bubbling is NOT caused from the rust proofing, but the dealer is still saying yes, either way the problem will be fixed by the dealer, no charge. I am very happy with the outcome.
