1995 Dodge Intrepid had a safety recall- fuel rail leak - customer paid out of pocket looking for reimbursement* the consumer stated he noticed gasoline leaking from the vehicle years prior to the recall being issued. The air conditioner was inoperable, the dealer replaced the transducer.

After repair the consumer took vehicle to personal mechanic for routine maintenance where the technician diagnosed a fuel leak from the O-ring seals. The consumer feels the recall work was either not done or the O-ring were replaced with the same recalled O-rings.

Since purchase in 2000, front suspension problems, dealer only offered boot, not replacement of whole axle. Mechanic said boot would not fix problem. Air conditioner went out in 2001, while traveling, cost $500 to replace plus rental. Ignition switch was replaced in 2002, due to not operating properly. Could not remove key. Cost around $150 to repair. Now, there is a strong smell of gas in the car, while in use. Mpg seems to be lower than should be. This is my 3rd Intrepid and the only one I have had excessive problems with.

I am looking for info pertaining to failures/fires/fatalities after recall repairs for this make/model. Am requesting assistance from Chrysler. There have been engine fires in this model. I am concerned about my safety. The unit also has a paint problem and currently needs $1000 in unrelated repairs not counting the paint. Chrysler has offered assistance with the paint but no assistance with the safety issue related to the fuel leak.

Soon after we bought the car we called the dealer. They told us there was nothing that could be done. The warranty was out. They also told me that they did not think anything was wrong and I did not know what I was talking about.the car would make a severe slip/buck when going up hills. I was told this was normal due to the way the transmission was made.I also told them of a gas smell. They denid knowledge of any recalls or service reports. I saw this recall notice in the paper during this summer. The dealer is not in business anymore. The finance company said I was wrong to. I told them im wont pay for a defective car and come to pick it up. They are now tring to collect payment.
