Driver side rear passenger door lock will not work. The lock actuator fails and does not engage the lock. This occurs at 15 miles per hour when the door is supposed to auto lock.

Safety issues with both rear sliding doors. The passenger door stopped working all together. It is closed and will not open using automatic openers or even by hand. The passenger side slideing door now makes a loud buzzing noise any time you unlock the door. The door still unlocks and locks normally and open and closes normally but the buzzing noise just started about a week ago. It does this whether the vehicle is running or not. Only makes the noise when unlocking the door, not locking.

I live in Maine and when it is cold out the automatic doors freeze up you cannot open it by yourself it clicks and clicks. Doesn't seem like a big deal but my kids have to jump through the front to get in and I have a newborn baby who we have to stick the car seat through the passenger doors the scary thing is I wonder if there was an emergency and we had to get out of the car so the car is smoking or something the doors would not open I would have to try to pull the infant seat out through the front and the kids would all have to jump out through the front I don't get how this has not been recalled.

Passenger side sliding door is stuck in locked position. Door will not open with key, key fob, or manually. When I try to open the door I get the message to 'unlock to operate'. definitely a safety issue! my small children ride back there and I need to be able to access them quickly if something happens.

While driving through a intersection turning right the engine shutoff without warning. Along with the engine shutoff, power steering was lost and everything on the dashboard including the speedometer, rpms, radio. With the loss of acceleration and power steering it made it very difficult to maneuver to safety. Once stopped I was able to place the vehicle in park I turned the key to off and restarted the vehicle and it started back up normally. Absolutely no engine lights or warning were showing before or after this incident. I suspect that the issue is the tipm but can't be exactly sure.

The transmission is all messed up. When you get in and start up the van and put it in gear it acts like you are feathering a manual transmission and it will slowly start to take off. When sifting through the gears it will sometimes slip, the rpms will rev up and down then jump into gear. Sometimes when it down shifts it will jerk when we are stopping, I have learned that this is call a bump stop by the techs.also if we have 3 or 4 people in the van and we try and back up it jerks violently, it feels like you are on a bucking Bronco. I have taken it to the dealer, audobon Chrysler in henderson ky. They keep telling me that they can't duplicate the problem, and that their are no recalls on this van. It's funny that I can go on line and find all kinds of recalls about the power train and many other problems with the 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan, but the dealer can't seem to find any recalls"?? I can't recall the exact date when we purchased the van, I would have to look it up, it was about a year ago and we are still fighting with the dealer as of 10/24/2019 because the problem is ongoing and getting worse?"

The power lock actuators on the side sliding doors have quit working on both the driver's side and passenger side. The malfunction is unsafe because you are unable to unlock the doors manually or open the doors. The doors are stuck in the locked position and stuck closed. If you had to exit the door in an emergency such as a fire or flooding, the rear passengers could not exit through the sliding doors. Currently, the passengers have to climb over the front seats to exit in the front.

Passenger rear sliding door makes extremely loud buzzing noise when any doors lock or unlock. There had been no damage done to the vehicle and this came completely random. Very disappointed in Dodge! I walked out hit unlock on the key fob while vehicle was stationary in my driveway. Heard buszzzzzzz super loud got nervous couldn't figure out the noise. I figured it out when I turned the ignition and the doors then locked and the noise happened again. Has now happened everytime since then and it's extremely loud.

The vehicle had not been in any kind of collision or had any damage to it. One rear sliding door will not unlock or open and the other rear sliding door will not lock. This is a very concerning safety issue. If an accident occurred and the occupants would have to get out of the vehicle very quickly, this could be affecting life or death. In addition, the one sliding door does not lock so when the vehicle is in motion it can be opened. This is a concern for me because I have small children.. in addition, this is a major security issue since there is no way to secure the vehicle. I have found many other people that have the same complaints about a defect in this vehicle and nothing being done about it. All I was told was it takes $1,200 to fix it for each door.

Grand Caravan

  • 29,000 miles
Shortly after purchasing our used 2016 Dodge Caravan R/T with under 30000 miles, the passenger side sliding door lock began making a loud buzzing noise whenever locking or unlocking. Now at 33000 miles the drivers side sliding door is doing the same thing. This costly repair is clearly a manufacturing defect considering the low mileage of the vehicle and how common it seems to be after a little bit of research.
