I bought a 2016 from Berlin City in Gorham, ME in Sept 2019. Last year (2019) I had to replace the rotors and pads on my rear breaks. The car had about 28,000 miles on it at that time. Last week (Sept, 2020) I took my van in for the yearly inspection. The service guy said that again, the pads and rotors are all rusted out and I need to replace them AGAIN. I paid 350.00 last year for new ones and now, again this year I will have to pay... this time it's 400.00. The first time I went to the Berlin City location to get it done because I thought they would be under warranty... of course, they aren't. This year I went to a local place that I always use.
I know that the pads and rotors are not under warranty. BUT, I have read many complaints online and I have read that this is a very common problem with Dodge Grand Caravans... WHY DOESN'T DODGE FIX THE PROBLEM THAT US CAUSING THE PADS AND ROTORS TO RUST SO QUICKLY??? They claim the brakes last from 30,000 miles up to 70,000 miles. Obviously those of us replacing brakes know that that is not the truth. My carpenter was just at my house earlier and I told him about my van. He said the same thing happened to his 2016 Dodge Caravan too. Dodge is negligent in NOT fixing this problem. They are getting away with NOT taking responsibility for this and trying to put the blame for the prematurely rusted out parts on the innocent owners saying it was caused because they didn't drive the car enough or drove it too much or put it on grass or grave. REALLY? Something needs to be done about this!
