fob fell off/unattached from backup key, by itself and lost I have my key on my key ring (just the backup key the fob was attached with the backup in a "lock" with my other keys. I hold on my key ring on December and walk across couple street and parking lot after work. un-noticed the fob unattached from the key. Note I did not hold on or touch the fob, I was hold on my key ring with my finger. I was driving my other car on that day. By the time I got home, I noticed my key ring is lighter and check, the fob is gone. I remember clearly when I got my keys out of my desk draw the fob was still there; so it must unattached from the backup key from my office through elevator and the streets and parking lot. After I discovered that, I drove back to search through my path and can't find it. I call CFA in Canada, they claim that there is nothing proof there is a defect on the key, but I ask if it is no a defect then how the fob unattached from the backup key, should it not require unlock and pull at the same time to unattached it? Regardless it is a defect on my key, in my opinion, it is a defect on the design of the key itself. How on earth the design is secure the backup key to key ring but not the fob. You will not use the backup key in 100 years but you use the fob every time you operate the car. Why not secure fob (put a metal ring beside it) then lock the backup key as how it lock now. This because the fob have more weight then the backup key how it is now the fob could fell of more easily if there is defect on the lock between the backup key and the fob i.e. the male piece is shorter due to manufacture defect. With the ring on the fob it is much harder unattached the backup key unless you intended to pull it out from the fob.
What a stupid design.
