A D V E R T I S E M E N T S
In November 2103, I just traded in my (one & only owner) 2007 Dodge Caravan because the dealer mechanic could not solve this same problem that just occurred with my new 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan. At first I was told with the 2007 to be careful to put gas cap on tight & secure. But then the problem light sensor would come on when no gas had been purchased.
AND so it was today, 7/28/14! Last purchase of gas was Saturday 7/26/14 and van has been driven approximately 50-60 miles since that purchase of gas. Learning from the 2007 my husband & I are very conscientious to twist the cap 2-3 turn, so as to be assured we have secured the gas cap. Then this morning the same indicator is on.
The other vexing problem is that the dealer service department must schedule you for "many possible" issues. With the 2007 I had to leave van overnight, as they were trying to see what made the light malfunction. After many scenarios and driving a day with the light on before going in for the service appointment and having mechanics to say they "don't know why" the malfunction indicator light comes on & has to be turned off by a mechanic; I traded in my 2007 for the 2014. I like driving the Caravan! and I have been an owner of new ones since 1984. So today, when this malfunction indicator light came on.... I say ENOUGH Already!
