Two weeks after being told my transmission was fixed, it failed again!! This time I was told I would need a new torque converter as well as the other parts that were "replaced" the last time because metal shards had ruined everything. I was stranded on the side of a very busy road on my way to work, early in the morning, at rush hour. Had to miss work and wait 2 hours for a tow. Then I find out the torque converter should have been replaced on the last visit, per the transmission specialist, but was not. Mall of Georgia Dodge the kept the vehicle another week. They then handed me my keys and said it was all fixed.

That "FIX" only lasted 11 months. This car is driven back and forth to work and school events and such. No towing or off-roading of any kind!

Seriously!

TOTAL TRANSMISSION FAILURE!! The transmission failed unexpectedly with myself and my child in the car. Stranded in busy traffic. Towed to Mall of Georgia Dodge Jeep Chrylser where it was purchased, Covered under extended warranty. One week later it was "fixed".

Handed me the keys and said all set. EXCEPT - the transmission specialist said the torque converter needed replacing but the extended warranty I purchased at the time of the vehicle purchase from the dealership said NO!!, I was not told this and the vehicle completely broke down two weeks later on the way to work during rush hour. I explained to the dealership that they had placed me and other drivers at risk by not alerting me to the ENTIRE situation. UNACCEPTABLE!!

TRANSMISSION #3 - Now the car is no longer under extended warranty and I am told the rental car and repair will have to be out of pocket!! Mall of Georgia Dodge said the problem was the compounder and converter. After speaking with the service manager, the rental and repair were covered by the dealership as a "courtesy".

Really, a transmission that only lasts 11 months fails for the third time and that's a "courtesy". Chrysler corporate was even less helpful. They don't see any of this as a problem. So long as the car works, in their words "FOR NOW". The dealership said if the transmission fails in 4 months, then I will have to pay out of pocket.

This was my first DODGE vehicle ever. It will now be my last. I am returning to KIA. They fixed our SPECTRA with 65000 miles with no questions asked.

Our 2013 Dodge Caravan is only 5 years old and we have our last car payment on September 1st (4 days away) and after hearing a weird sound when driving up a hill, we were told that the transmission is shot and we need a new one costing $5,200. Unacceptable! This van has less than 65,000 miles on it.

Not even 100k miles, I am certainly NOT going to put another $5k into this car. We just spent $3750 to fix an electrical problem and now the transmission and radiator go out? We regularly service and maintain this vehicle. Certainly NOT the quality we expected from Dodge.

I purchased 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan in February 2013. After 2 years of riding, it had brake problems, making a high pitch noise when I brake it. While the noise continued bothering me, it failed accelerating on the road today. Quick diagnosis says it can be transmission problem. I don't know whether it can be covered by powertrain warranty. I hope it does not cost me a lot of money...

I bought the van used over a year ago. it only has 67,000 miles on it so I wouldn't expect the transmission to go out with normal use. thank the Lord I was just passing by my regular mechanic on the way to work and it started making a noise I knew wasn't right so I pulled in and they checked it out and there it is.

Grand Caravan

  • Automatic transmission

Without warning, I was driving in the height of Atlanta Traffic, my car made a loud whining noise and then I would hit the gas and the car would rev up but I would not move anywhere. Then it would SLAM into gear feeling like I was rear ended ( but I wasnt) and would go for a few feet and then slip out of gear again rendering me helpless. I had to have my car towed at my expense because the power train warranty ran out 12/31/2015. This happened 02/10/2016... really two months after warranty expires?? I had to pay for a tow, a rental and the repair of $3000.00. My dad had to help because I as a single mom did nto have that kind of money. This is insane, I bought this car new three years ago to avoid issues and then then happens.

Grand Caravan V6

When accelerator depressed RPM's would go to 4 or 5, but car wasn't getting much power. Pretty quickly RPM's started going to 6 and 7 with even less power. Stopped driving the car and had it towed to the nearest dealership. Was told the powertrain was still under warranty and it sounded like a transmission problem. When dealership called back they stated a part called a TIPM needed to be replaced and the part is on back order with no estimated time of arrival. $925 for the part plus labor. What am I supposed to do until the part comes in, they said it could be 3 days or 3 months, no one knows.

Grand Caravan SXT 3.6L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 5,247 miles

At first I bought a used 2011 Grand Caravan on 2012 to "save a little money". Within 2 months had a major engine and transmission break down. Returned vehicle to dealership and got me a "brand new" 2013 Grand Caravan, so as to prevent any future problems. Within a month I noticed transmission problems, transmission will "thump" when shifted to forward or reverse, and when parking up on my house drive way on a slight upward incline the transmission would "slip and jerk".

Took vehicle to dealership transmission specialist for inspection and was told that it was a normal "glitch" on all Grand Caravans!!!, that they all do that, in other words what he was saying to me is that's the way it is, you're stuck with it, tough sh*t!

I was a rotor wing aircraft mechanic for many years and I can tell you that this is NOT, a "normal glitch", it is a DEFECTIVE product from Dodge on which they refuse to accept responsibility, and the only way to fix this problem is to repair (a brand new vehicle) transmission or replace it!

Very, very disappointed with Dodge products and needless to say, I will never buy or recommend Dodge to anyone.

Sincerely,

Jorge Badillo
