Bottom line, vehicle less than 5 years old with 59k miles had fuel pump die. I suspect this is due to faulty TIPM. It did not run constantly and wear down the battery however, just stopped working according to the dealer who I don't trust 100%. Here were the indications; 1. Fuel gauge registers completely empty. 2. Info center readout above steering wheel reports "No fuel." 3. Of course engine cranks but does not fire. 4. No fuses blown within TIPM.
At the time I brought the TIPM issues I had read about to the attention of the service advisor. He acted as if he'd never heard about it. Fuel pump was replaced for $826 out of my pocket. Power train coverage is 5 yrs / 60,0000 anything electrically related is a mere 3yrs/36,000. Now, one month later I'm having multiple electrical issues, all indications point to bad TIPM. I will write a new report specifically for that shortly.
