So that lovely ticking that has been progressively getting louder and faster that was supposedly a characteristic of Dodge.... is a 2,400.00 fix!
The warranty for the cylinder heads was extended to a whopping 240,000km! but on the right side which is more common from what I've read is sh*t out of luck past the manufactures original warranty. This is premature even at 190,000km
Started with difficult to accelerate, then chugging at idle, then engine light then a return to the shop where they under their own warranty replaced the spark plugs and wires but the code still read meaning replace Cylinder 1. Quoted a price to fix. called Dodge Canada and was given a ray of hope. the warranty has been extended to 240,000km.
Called the mech. they called Dodge confirmed the work and the issue. Voila I'm getting in the next day! Dropped it off today... got a call from Dodge ya.... we fixed your recall issue but this cylinder Isn't on the left side its cylinder 1 its not covered. After all the back and forth we knew the entire time it was cylinder 1 why would I have brought it there if it wasn't covered?!?!?!
Stuck for 2 more years of payments! $8,000.00 spent over 50,000km in REPAIRS!!!!
This van is a LEMON i was holding out a small thread of hope after the transmission rebuild at 153,000km and the computer replacement at 170,000 and the constant brake changes and glitches but this one is making me think that its better to give it back to dodge as a big......... hunk of BURNING SCRAP METAL because if I still have to keep making payments on it at least i'll be able to live with the satisfaction of returning their piece of sh*t van in a state that's best suited for!

when mechanic scan and found no. 6 cylinder misfiring told me possible no 6 coil or spark plug , but he also mention is too new to have this kind of problem , i also find out the internet have to replace new cylinder head but isn`t too early for head replacement. so i decided replace spark plug & no.6 coil ( mopar ) , VERY DISAPPOINTED still shaking when idle freeway speed is fine, next day engine lite on , scan same cylinder 6 misfiring. DODGE DODGE DODGE . they make car like a toy. now i have to save some money for next year either fix it or sell it before smog check.
I need to have the cylinder heads ground down. NO idea what that is going to cost but it doesn't sound cheap. Even the shop I usually take it to said a vehicle this 'young' with only 84,000 should not have to have the heads ground. I'd like to grid someone's head!!!! POS vehicle. Does anyone else have this problem? Have you been able to get Dodge to pay for it? I just found out yesterday (9-2-15) after spending $800 doing the 'cheap' fix (tune up, spark plugs, gumout)
I just traded a beautiful and perfectly working Honda CRV for this van. Only had it 2 days when I noticed a problem. The engine was "missing" at idle. Took it back to the dealership who kept it for two days (I had to pay a deposit on a rental vehicle) only to tell me that they determined it was NORMAL per factory settings. Dealership suggested that I drive it some more and bring it to a Dodge dealership if it continued. My husband checked the air filter thinking that might be an issue and while it was completely clogged and a new one put in (OUR EXPENSE) it did not fix the problem. Today it was really acting up and actually lurched forward at a stop light.
I have put in an email to the dealership where I bought it (only two weeks ago), called my finance company to notify them and emailed www.Dodge.com for help. I think they must think that since I am a woman I will just accept their explanation that this is normal for this van. I AM NOT HAPPY with Rick Hendricks Chevrolet at all!
Any other thoughts on how I can get this rectified?
