2012 Dodge Caravan. Alternator went bad at 51,000 miles. Called Dodge no help with problem except to bring to dealer to have diagnosed at cost $$$. Told them the web is loaded with same issue... and for a while. They said web was not good enough info for them to make a correction. I wonder if the millions they have spent on their web site over the years is not good enough info for us. I have never replaced an alternator without at least a 100,000 miles on it. Great way to keep a customer or customers Dodge. Oh, and by the way you still owe me a set of rotors your locked up calipers destroyed by 38,000 mi.

Grand Caravan SE 3.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 45,000 miles

As I was driving, my trac light came on, followed by the throttle light. Then, the car lost power and shut down. I had the battery and alternator tested, and it came out the be both the battery and alternator. The dealer wanted to charge $999.00 to replace/repair both. I had my Dodge towed to another mechanic who repaired it (new alternator, but battery was okay). Now, the battery light remain on even though we replace the alternator again and put a new battery in the Dodge. After extensive measures/tests, we're baffled as to why the battery light is still on.

I bought a 2012 Dodge grand caravan 2012 2 years ago it started having problems about 1.5 years ago I kept taking it back & forth to the dealer I got it from they where know help at all I told them my van would lunge sometimes, it also at times would slow down on the highway for know reason never hit the breaks to slow it down almost got hit by a Truck because of that I thought I was a Goner that some SCARY ASS SH*T.

Now Chrysler dealer says I need Motor mount every now & then my engine light, airbag light, econ light, & others come on when they get DAMN ready I can't afford to keep fixing a van & Pay a car note after while it's gonna stop running all together I'm disable now I can't work anymore I call dealer today the Guy had the nerve to say maybe you need to down size to something smaller I was like what he said you sound unhappy about your van I was like Hell yes I am, but not because it's a van my vehicle has serious problems one day that van is gonna be the DEATH of me & my Grands & passengers.

Come on CHRYSLER PEOPLE WE NEED HELP HERE ARE GIVE THE PEOPLE ANOTHER VAN SO WE CAN FEEL SAFE.I going in Thursday for a Recall on the motor in my back window, but nothing else is getting repaired!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Grand Caravan Crew 3.6L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 50,000 miles

Battery light came one. Drove 3miles to my home. Tested battery and alternator, both indicating appropriate voltage. Let the vehicle idle in my driveway with lights/heater/radio/ect on. Vehicle was dead within 20min.

A massive recall exists for alternators from the 3.6L engine. Dodge tells me it is the same alternator, but the Grand Caravan is not included in the recall. Part cost from Dodge is quoted at $480. Estimate from Dodge to repair is quoted at $650. Nothing covered under any warranty.

If the same alternator is being recalled from 900,000 vehicles (recall number P60), why not include the Grand Caravan. I have the same alternator attached to my 3.6L engine. Dodge tells me it is the same alternator... Replacement part number is the same (68272108ab).

The alternator went out in my 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan. Just seems like a major problem for a car that is relatively new. Was expensive to replace.
