On November 5, 2011 I purchased a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan for my daughter and five special needs grandchildren. After about a year, we started to notice the panels on the passenger side sliding doors warping. I don't know why I kept waiting to take it to the dealer, but I did wait a while.
When I did take it into the dealer on January 20, 2014, the service manager said to me, with a real serious look on his face, "you must be parking your vehicle near extreme heat". I told him, "it's a car, not a couch, it's in my garage most of the time, and when it is outside, the all day sun is on the drivers side. and anyway, this is Pennsylvania, not Death Valley, not to mention, nothing else on that side of the car (door handles,side view mirror housing, etc) is in that condition". After a bit of "oh, come on, WTH, and constantly saying, it's a car, it's made for outside", he agreed to replace the three panels, noting, he would put it under my warranty.
A few weeks later, I received a letter from Dodge informing me that, this time the repair was covered under my warranty, but, next time I would have to pay to have the panels replaced. The cost, about $258. Within a month the replacements began warping again, this time much worse. I've looked at other Dodge Caravan's, all years and including the Chrysler Town and Country and have NEVER seen anything like this,
I'm not quite sure how to proceed with this issue, but I REALLY don't think the repair costs should be mine to pay or that Dodge even cares. This is my first step on my journey to rid myself of this lemon! My next move is to file a complaint with Dodge directly. I've got about another year before this lemon is paid off, additionally, this is the first Dodge I've ever owned, it will be the last, not matter what the outcome. HELP!!!
