Vehicle was purchased brand new in 2012. Rear A/C started blowing hot air in the Summer of 2015, it was still under the tail of manufacturer warranty. Woodbine Chrysler dealer had it checked and said there is nothing wrong with it, and they charged the system and put some dye in it for tracing the leak next time. Rear A/C was fine for the remainder of 2015.
The summer of 2016, again the rear was blowing heat in AC mode. Had the dealer checked again, this time the car was out of warranty, the dealer was 100%sure that they found the problem. They replaced the rear evaporator which cost me about 1200 Canadian dollars.
Hoping it would last a least a few more summers, however, the same issue came back again this month 2017. Woodbine Chrysler checked and reported nothing wrong with the system and even trying to charge me $69 inspection fee.
Tired of the service and the brand, I will stay away from Chrysler/Dodge ever.
1. The rear defrost only stays on for 4 minutes - not helpful at all on cold days or when driving through a blizzard.
2. The drivers side window freezes shut anytime it's colder than -2 degrees Celsius. I drove for 45 minutes with the front defrost on full blast (full blower and max. heat) and it STILL wouldn't open. (it was -11 degrees Celsius)
3. The front windshield does not fully defrost. You can leave the car running for an hour warming up with the blower on full blast and max. heat and it will still only be half defrosted. Last night I was driving in a blizzard and almost didn't make it home because the windshield wipers (which are brand new, and a good quality) became large chunks of ice that made it impossible to clear the windshield. I had to stop repeatedly to get out and manually take all the ice off. My feet were completely frozen because every ounce of warm air this thing would produce had to be directed at that windshield.
4. The windshield wiper sprayers on the hood freeze, making driving on the highway after a snowfall extremely dangerous. I personally filled the windshield washer fluid last night with winter fluid, doesn't freeze until -40 degrees Celsius. I parked in the garage, there was no snow on my van and it wasn't as cold as if I had parked it outside. It was -11 degrees Celsius and they would not spray. It worked fine on the rear window, but not one drop on the front window. Upon closer inspection it looks like they are just frozen shut (just like the window).
THIS VAN IS A DEATH TRAP IN CANADIAN WINTER!!!!!! I bought this for safe transportation for my kids and twice in 2 days I felt like my life was on line trying to drive this thing in the winter. It was good in the summer but this is ridiculous. I am already looking into getting rid of it and getting a minivan that will actually drive in Canadian winters.
