My wife started our van and it didn't start. She got it started and went a few miles down the road. After stopping at a stop sign she took off and was going approximately 35 mph when the vehicle abruptly stalled. She lost power steering and was able to get it stopped before going into the ditch. Had she been traveling faster she probably would have wrecked. She had my two year old with her and is currently 13 weeks pregnant.....updated 11/02/15 updated 1/4/2016 updated 11/22/2017

As I began to slow to turn/come to a stop/veer into turning lane I lost the ability to accelerate and was unable to steer my vehicle. I had to put it in park turn it off and start it again to regain steering and acceleration abilities. It has happened 5 times since last fall but I don't have the date or mileage from when the first 3 times occurred so I started keeping up with mileage and date of happenings since I looked up recalls to figure out what was going on. At least 1 of my 4 precious children have been in the vehicle with me each and every time the problem has occurred. The description of the recall for mini vans in my make model and year for the ignition switching off matches these incidents 100% but mine doesn't have that recall on it. I would like to know why. If something happens to any of my children someone will be paying because of a lawsuit. I've been lucky every time the incidents have occurred because I have been slowing down. The only thing on the ignition has been my single key nothing hanging from it and no bumps were hit. "NHTSA further explained that "if the ignition key inadvertently moves into the 'off' or 'accessory' position, the engine will turn off, which will then depower various key safety systems, including, but not limited to airbags, power steering and power braking. Loss of functionality of these systems may increase the risk of crash and/or increase the risk of injury in the event of a crash.""

While driving my 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan, on numerous occasions, I have lost all power leading to the inability to steer. Last event, I was in a round about and, switching into neutral, was barely able to prevent a crash. I have nothing attached to my key fob. This is the known ignition problem and I find it unacceptable that Chrysler thinks it is ok to wait until August to fix this. This is extremely dangerous. I do not have the means to get a new vehicle and with 2 young children, this is extremely dangerous. Please force them to move faster to correct this problem!!

The mini van engine unexpectedly shut off while driving at a steady speed of 45 mph. I pulled over and restarted the engine and continued on normally. This was a dangerous condition since I lost brake and steering assist. I was almost rear ended by traffic behind me. There is a 2010 Dodge ignition recall that exactly describes my incident. However the recall only covers minivans built before June 17, 2010. My vehicle was built on November 8, 2010. I believe this recall should be expanded to all Grand Caravan built in 2010.

I was driving slowly, making a turn, and the power steering stopped working, then the braking stopped, and the car had no power. The stability control light came on. This has happened intermittently multiple times, and the dealership cannot get the car to repeat the error. It did have one key fob error on the codes, but that was many starts in the past. Other VIN's in this model/year have been recalled due to electrical/ignition problems. This is probably what is wrong with this car, but it is not under recall, and the dealership cannot figure out how to fix it.

In the first drive of the day (no matter what time of the day) within 4 blocks of my home, the vehicle stalls while driving. This has so far happened 8 times over the last 9 months. This incident has occurred with 3 different drivers and in the same exact location 7 out of the 8 times. Vehicle is always coasting (not accelerating) around 20 miles per hour. When this incident occurs, the engine turns off, which disables the steering, brakes, and acceleration. This leaves the driver and its passengers in serious, potentially lethal, danger. We have taken this vehicle multiple times to the dealership, and they claim that this vehicle is not included in the recall. They state that there are no error codes.

The vehicle cuts off at normal operating speed on bumpy surfaces or after going over bumps in the road. Vehicle lost power steering, braking, and the engine cuts off. This resulted in and emergency exit from the lane of travel. This has happened multiple times over the past 12 months. This appears to be the same symptoms of a current recall for the ignition switch on similar vehicles of this model. Dodge makes no attempt to assist with verifying that there is an issue.

While driving approximately 40 mph under normal conditions (50 degrees F, no rain/snow), the operator noticed a sudden and unexpected loss of power steering. Upon scanning the dash, the eps (stability control) lights was illuminated. A few seconds (maybe 5 - 15) later, the power breaking appeared to be lost. Operator is unsure if these functions were "simply" lost, or if the vehicle was actually powered down. Steering and breaking was extremely difficult to the extent that it was very difficult to physically control the vehicle enough to move to the side of the road without hitting any objects. Even braking was extremely difficult to do with significant force. After getting safely on the side of the road, the engine was immediately turned off. A few minutes later, the car was re-started and appeared to be functioning normally, although operator was unwilling to risk putting car into "drive". car was towed to dealer for analysis. If this had happened at higher speed, or when a quick stop was necessary, a severe crash likely would have occurred.

Several times while driving out of neighborhood the van will shut off without warning. Engine dies causing power steering to not function either. It has recently become more frequent and has now begun to die even after warming up and at higher speeds.

I was driving down the road and I noticed that my steering was tight. When I looked down, my RPM's were on 0, my car had shut off and the traction control light came on. I pulled over to the side of the road, put car in park and it started right up. This happened again a few weeks after that, going the same speed. Brakes & steering gave out, was able to coast to side of road, put car in park and it started right up. On March 28th I was driving into work, going approx. 45-50 mph, noticed that my steering got tight, car had shut off again. Thankfully I was in the outside lane so I could pull over. Car started right up. It happened a 4th time on April 2, 2014. This time I felt the steering wheel getting tight, I put car in neutral and it started right up. Every time this happens my car shuts off first and then there is a 1-2 second delay before the traction control steering light comes on. My car is at the dealership right now, waiting to hear. I checked on the ignition recall for the 2010 Grand Caravan and I was told that my VIN# does not fall into the recall dates. This is very dangerous for myself, my family and others on the road. I am afraid to drive my car!!

The ignition moved itself from start to accessory, shutting of the engine, disabling the power steering and brakes. Luckily I was already coming to a stop otherwise my lack of power steering and power brakes would have caused me to crash by the time I realized what had happened.

Bought vehicle used from a Dodge dealership in 2012, after several months engine shut off while driving on highway and then spontaneously restarted. This happened maybe once a month but then became more frequent until it is now almost a daily occurrence. When this occurs sometimes car will restart if you slightly turn the key towards start quick enough, otherwise you have to shift into neutral to have some control and then turn the key to restart (not fun or safe in traffic at highway speeds). This can happen while sitting in the driveway before moving or at any speed, bumpy roads especially bad. Once we realized what the problem was with the ignition switch/key I did some research and found the recall 11V-139 and determined that our van was built during the recall manufacture dates. Called Dodge 3 times, first two calls was told recall did not exist. On the 3rd call was told it did exist but my VIN was not included in recall. I asked to at least have the ignition scanned with the witech scan tool (as described in the instructions in the L25 recall notice sent to dealers) dealer to determine if it was a marquardt, siemens or Continental win module. I was told I could do this at my expense but even if the results showed it was a recalled ignition it would not be covered since my VIN was not in the recall. This situation is extremely dangerous and if it has not caused any deaths yet as with the current GM ignition problem it will. Something needs to be done. P.S. vehicle also has the transmission bearing noise problem and the leaky/noisy power steering problems that Dodge has described in service bulletins but has also not recalled.

Driving through a school zone to take my daughter to school. The engine just stopped with no warning. This caused me to loose power steering and brakes. This happened on 6 subsequent occasions in different areas and at different speeds between November 2013 and March 2014 the most recent was March 11, 2014.

Was entering a parking place. Right foot on top of brake. While my car was moving at idol speed-the engine RPM's speed surges causing no control in steering, brake. The surgeing over rides the brake. Steering, everything.. hit parked car. You have no control in situation. Had another "2010" van & same thing happened going thru garage door -2nd time almost hit building at my dentist building. Dealership made deal & switched to present van. Now this one has done it. Chrysler has inspected van for two weeks. They found nothing wrong. Case number at Chrysler is #23859956. Can't drive this van again. Next time may injure or kill someone. Found many with same trouble on internet. How do we get Chrysler to notice before someone is badly hurt. They are waiting for me to pick up my van"???". don't know if I can do it. Also have to fix bumper for $800.

The contact owns a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that the tires would become bald prematurely. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where the technician stated that the vehicle needed an alignment. Additionally, the motor mount and the lower intake gasket was fractured, causing an oil filter housing leak in the lower intake gasket. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 13,000.

2010 Dodge Grand Caravan with one passenger (driver) was hit by a driver running a red light at ~ 50mph. The collision occured at the front right (passenger) side of the Grand Caravan. The collision was severe and the van was totaled out as a result of this accident. Although the accident was a side impact none of the side airbags deployed, only the front air bags deployed. The driver of the van suffered head injuries due to contact with the side window of the van during the crash.

The brake rotors warp every 20,000 miles or so, so bad that the steering wheel shakes. This has happened on both my 2008 and my 2010 Caravan. Dodge has known about this problem for years and has refused to address it other than to give a discount only if you ask for it. Getting them fixed at the dealer is a pain cause they take the van for at least a day some times two. Also the wheel bearings on the 2008 did not last very long at all first set was replaced under warranty(37,000 miles) second set(68,000miles) was not. I have not had the wheel bearing issue on the 2010. The wheel bearings are sealed so it has nothing to do with the warped rotor issue.

Vehicle was sold to customer without recall NHTSA 11V-139 being installed in Nov 2011. Customer never notified; however, the vehicle had a window switch failure in Feb 2012 at about 60K miles at which time the dealer used L25 instead of a complete win module replacement. Custumer was not told of the replacement and it was not reported to carfax or other entities. May 13, 2013 after a distance trip, custumer parked the vehicle for 2 minutes. When attempting restart the vehicle had power but would not start and shifter was locked. Diagnosis shows full failure of the win module. The L25 recommended partial replacement did not prevent failure. Even though no accident occurred, customer was travelling from md to va and shutdown could have occurred on highway 301 or I95. Upon confronting the dealer, dealer stated that they do not have to disclose the recall or have to perform the work even though the dealer service instructions on July 2011 stated that the dealer must complete the recall before retail delivery. Consequently, this vehicle was one of the ones that needed a full replacement and not a partial.

I bought my Grand Caravan brand new. It is a 2010, I bought in 2011. I have had multiple issues with it. Over the weekend, the traction control came on (perfectly dry roads), the car stalled, I lost power steering, and it wouldn't move until I stopped, put the car in park, and restarted it. This has happened four times now. I took it in for service this morning. I was told they would run diagnostics. If the diagnostics showed it to be a powertrain issue, it would be covered. If not, I would have to pay for diagnostics. After they ran diagnostics, they think it is the PCM. However, they won't fix it because they can't prove it is nothing else or duplicate the problem. They also still charged me for the diagnostics because they can't say for 100% it is the PCM. They told me I would have to continue to drive the car until it happened regularly and I would probably wreck the car in the process. I told them to expect a lawsuit if that happens.
