I was driving slowly, making a turn, and the power steering stopped working, then the braking stopped, and the car had no power. The stability control light came on. This has happened intermittently multiple times, and the dealership cannot get the car to repeat the error. It did have one key fob error on the codes, but that was many starts in the past. Other VIN's in this model/year have been recalled due to electrical/ignition problems. This is probably what is wrong with this car, but it is not under recall, and the dealership cannot figure out how to fix it.

The contact owns a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan. While driving 65 mph, the vehicle would shift into a lower gear causing the speed to decrease without warning. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic; however, the failure was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000. Updated 03/30/15 the consumer stated the dealer rebuilt the transmission at the manufacturer's expense. Updated 6/23/2015

After put the gearshift on park position, and turn off the engine, the key fob will stuck on acc position and can not come out. Need to restart the engine and switch the gearshift to other positions and push back to park position one or more times, then it may come out. The key stuck issue happened about 3 out of 10 from a month ago.

I live in troy Michigan and on a trip to go pick up my teenage daughter driving.on M-59 my car started expelling coolant in the form.of steam from underneath the hood and inside the vehicle. I immediate stopped at the closest automotive store.less.than a mile from where it started the incident. It was discovered by the mechanic at bell tire that the steel intercooler lines that run to the interior heater had ruptured. I contacted Chrysler as steel tube should not fail unless some manufacture issue was overlooked. As a senior systems engineer mean time before failure on a component like this should have never happened at the low mileage on the vehicle. I followed up to find.out cost to repair and the sales rep also let me know that a second Grand Caravan 2008 model had just come.in with the same failure. This is absolutely Chrysler failure to engineer this correctly and I would.lile to see this resolved before greater damage is done.

While driving the ignition switch turned off and resulted in a loss of power steering and brakes. Vehicle was in heavy traffic and almost caused a multiple car pileup. This has been happening for months. Dodge charged me $89 to diagnose and the result was the dealer told me to get an oil change and my radiator cap might be leaking. I contacted Dodge corporate escalating to a manager with no results. My wife and kids could have been killed. I was forced to trade to vehicle which costs me lots of money loss. Dodge did not care and either did the dealer. There are no other keys on the key ring to interfere.

Bought vehicle used from a Dodge dealership in 2012, after several months engine shut off while driving on highway and then spontaneously restarted. This happened maybe once a month but then became more frequent until it is now almost a daily occurrence. When this occurs sometimes car will restart if you slightly turn the key towards start quick enough, otherwise you have to shift into neutral to have some control and then turn the key to restart (not fun or safe in traffic at highway speeds). This can happen while sitting in the driveway before moving or at any speed, bumpy roads especially bad. Once we realized what the problem was with the ignition switch/key I did some research and found the recall 11V-139 and determined that our van was built during the recall manufacture dates. Called Dodge 3 times, first two calls was told recall did not exist. On the 3rd call was told it did exist but my VIN was not included in recall. I asked to at least have the ignition scanned with the witech scan tool (as described in the instructions in the L25 recall notice sent to dealers) dealer to determine if it was a marquardt, siemens or Continental win module. I was told I could do this at my expense but even if the results showed it was a recalled ignition it would not be covered since my VIN was not in the recall. This situation is extremely dangerous and if it has not caused any deaths yet as with the current GM ignition problem it will. Something needs to be done. P.S. vehicle also has the transmission bearing noise problem and the leaky/noisy power steering problems that Dodge has described in service bulletins but has also not recalled.

Purchased Dodge Grand Caravan (modified for handicapped accessibility) in September of 2011 with approx. 10,000 miles. Several months after purchase the vehicle developed a potentially catastrophic fault. While accelerating onto an expressway the vehicle spontaneously accelerates to over 8000 rpms. The brakes are not sufficient to control the vehicle's speed. In order to correct the fault the driver must turn off the ignition key then shift the vehicle into neutral and drift to the side of the road. In order to reset the vehicle power train to safe operating conditions, the driver must start the vehicle with the ignition key. If the fault is sustained the driver must turn off the key before the engine over accelerates. This process must be repeated as often as necessary (several times) in order to cause the system to reset and allow for normal operation. This is not an easily repeatable fault. We have left the vehicle with the local Dodge dealer for almost two weeks and the mechanics drive the vehicle to / from work (200+ miles) to try to repeat this fault. They are having little success observing this powertrain fault. Chrysler case id [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Was entering a parking place. Right foot on top of brake. While my car was moving at idol speed-the engine RPM's speed surges causing no control in steering, brake. The surgeing over rides the brake. Steering, everything.. hit parked car. You have no control in situation. Had another "2010" van & same thing happened going thru garage door -2nd time almost hit building at my dentist building. Dealership made deal & switched to present van. Now this one has done it. Chrysler has inspected van for two weeks. They found nothing wrong. Case number at Chrysler is #23859956. Can't drive this van again. Next time may injure or kill someone. Found many with same trouble on internet. How do we get Chrysler to notice before someone is badly hurt. They are waiting for me to pick up my van"???". don't know if I can do it. Also have to fix bumper for $800.

The distance was about 35 miles from our home, bout 45 minutes drive. Driver didn't notice anything wrong with the engine or see any warning lights. The car was swaying like on a windy day, another car honked at us, then we heard loud road noise. We pulled over and turned off the engine. Saw the rear passenger tire was flat to the rim. Noticed a smoky smell. Saw little puffs of white smoke coming from under the hood. To be safe we removed children from the car; two 4 yr old children were in the backseat buckled in their car-seats. Infant was in the middle drivers side seat buckled in his car seat. Driver and car owner were in the front. Keys were removed from the ignition. We walked away from the vehicle, waited at the fence-line away from the vehicle while calling for a tow. Smoke appeared to have stopped for about 5 minutes. Suddenly black smoke started pouring out of the engine, embers dropping to the road from under the front of the car. We moved the children further away from the vehicle. Several truckers pulled over and brought fire extinguishers. One opened the hood flames flared up the fire truck arrived after the fire had been extinguished. One said the fire appeared to have started in the fan. The chp officer said the firefighters would disconnect the battery. When we looked at the inside of the front of the car everything was burnt and melted, the hood was buckled, front grill melted. The fire was extinguished before the rest of the car was damaged.

I bought my Grand Caravan brand new. It is a 2010, I bought in 2011. I have had multiple issues with it. Over the weekend, the traction control came on (perfectly dry roads), the car stalled, I lost power steering, and it wouldn't move until I stopped, put the car in park, and restarted it. This has happened four times now. I took it in for service this morning. I was told they would run diagnostics. If the diagnostics showed it to be a powertrain issue, it would be covered. If not, I would have to pay for diagnostics. After they ran diagnostics, they think it is the PCM. However, they won't fix it because they can't prove it is nothing else or duplicate the problem. They also still charged me for the diagnostics because they can't say for 100% it is the PCM. They told me I would have to continue to drive the car until it happened regularly and I would probably wreck the car in the process. I told them to expect a lawsuit if that happens.

The car shifts hard. When first started in the morning it ruins up high prm's before the car shifts. The car transmission sometimes fails to engage when I attempt to pass a car on the highway or when I just want to speed up. This can happen when I am going 30 mph or 60 mph. It happens at random times. Recently the electrical system has started acting up. Last week when I went into the grocery store the window went down by themselves while I was in the store.(it was raining out so I am sure the windows were up when I locked the doors to go inside) the driver's side door does not lock or unlock with the remote control. Also when I go to exit the car the lock is sticking and it is at times difficult to open the door. Today when my wife went out to the van the car had unlocked and the front lights were on. I re-locked the car and it unlocked itself again. I have had the car into the dealership where I purchased numerous times(5 or 6) to have the transmission looked at but they don't get an"error code" so they say there is nothing that can be done.

Cruise control active on our 2010 Grand Caravan. When going down long hill, transmission will down shift on own-3 gear levels-hard & RPM as observed on tac approached 5000. Had to disengage cruise. Dealer had no error code. Contacted Chrysler. This was a problem on 2009's. supposedly fixed for 2010. Chrysler is aware and working on fix. This occurred on two occasions at 3200 and 3740 miles. When taken to Dodge service dept., I was instructed to not use cruise on hills of this type in the future. Some answer.
