I bought my used Dodge Grand Caravan 10 in 2011. A few months after I did it, the car started shaking really bad in the steering wheel when I was braking. I took it to the dealership, and inform them about the issue. They told me everything was perfect, and brakes were in excellent condition. (09/17/2012). Two months later, the rear right brake have a crack. And the sound coming from the back is horrible. I took my car again today (11/17/12) and they said, this car needs total replace of rotors and brakes. I was surprised! I explained them what they told me last time, but the guy said " well, even today or two months ago, you have to change everything because that is what we do here." When I tried to talk with the manager, his assistant told me that he was not able to talk to me, because he was at lunch literally, he said " this is going to take a while...." they could tell me before, at least warning me about this, but I guess they didn't even check my car the first time. I don't drive this car more that 20 miles everyday, for the brakes to damaged so severely. I have my kids in this car everyday. I am scared now driving that car. It is crazy shaking! the brakes are totally damaged and this could be fixed previously.... this has to be seriously investigated. Please don't wait until somebody die because of this. I had found thousands of cases like this all over the internet and with friends. Do something about this!!!!

The contact owns a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that the vehicle vibrated abnormally when the brake pedal was depressed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer numerous times for the failure. The dealer replaced the front brake pads however, the failure was not corrected and the vehicle continued to vibrate abnormally when the brake pedal was depressed. The vehicle was repaired under a manufacturer's recall where the front and rear rotors, and brake pads were replaced. The failure recurred several months later. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and a diagnostic was performed. The failure was located as the cd joint seal, which failed and caused the lubricant to cover the front suspension. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 22 and the current mileage was 24,165.

I bought my Grand Caravan brand new. It is a 2010, I bought in 2011. I have had multiple issues with it. Over the weekend, the traction control came on (perfectly dry roads), the car stalled, I lost power steering, and it wouldn't move until I stopped, put the car in park, and restarted it. This has happened four times now. I took it in for service this morning. I was told they would run diagnostics. If the diagnostics showed it to be a powertrain issue, it would be covered. If not, I would have to pay for diagnostics. After they ran diagnostics, they think it is the PCM. However, they won't fix it because they can't prove it is nothing else or duplicate the problem. They also still charged me for the diagnostics because they can't say for 100% it is the PCM. They told me I would have to continue to drive the car until it happened regularly and I would probably wreck the car in the process. I told them to expect a lawsuit if that happens.

I am on my 3rd set of brakes and they failed to function on 10/2/12 at 35mph. Chrysler refuses to replace the brakes at no charge since I am over 36000 even though the dealers are refusing to ship the pieces to outside companies and I cannot afford dealership prices.

In may I started to notice some shimmying when I would slow down. The longer I drove the car, the worse it would get. I spoke to my neighbor is a mechanic at a car dealership and he said it was my brakes. I had my front brakes replaced on July 11th under the recall. The shimmying was not as bad but still there. It has progressively gotten worse. Now at 27,000 my rear brakes are being worked on. I have been driving for 18 years and have never had this type of brake trouble and do not feel I should be having it on a new car.

Only 20K miles at the time, the front brakes had to be replace. They vibrate and pulse real bad. They replace the brakes and six month into it, they are pulsing again. The back brakes pulse also. The van has less then 30K and the brakes should not be bad.

I was driving and the rear brakes seized. I pulled into my driveway and they were burning. I had complained to the dealer 2 months prior that I thought something was wrong with the brakes. I had a lot of pulsing in the steering wheel and didn't feel like I could stop quick enough. They said everything was okay. After the brakes seized on 6/28/12, I took it to the dealer and they said the rear brakes were all corroded. The rotors, brake pads and clips had to be all replaced. Months ago, Dodge had put an additional warranty on the front brakes for this very reason (pre-mature corrosion) instead of doing a recall. But the back brakes were not covered. I searched the internet and other people have had the same experience with corroded rear brakes seizing at low mileage. Please look it in this. I didn't expect something like to happen on a vehicle with relatively low mileage.

The contact owns a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while driving, the brake distance had increased and the tires were not stable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who advised that the brake pad and rotors were worn prematurely. The vehicle was not repaired because the parts needed for repair were not available and the dealer did not have an estimated date of when the part would become available for the repair. The failure and the current mileage was 33,447.

Rear passenger wheel gets extremely hot while driving. It appears that the caliper may be locking up. The rear wheel on the driver side also makes a high pitched whine, which is intermittent and usually goes away by tapping the brake pedal. We took it to the dealer and they said we needed a rear brake job. However, I believe this is due to defective calipers which are not releasing the pads from the rotors. The rear brakes on every car I have owned always last significantly longer than the front. The fact that the rear pads are worn excessively while front are not indicates a defect in the rear brake assembly. The ignition was repaired as part of a recall. However, after starting the car, the key does not return to the "on" position. This allows the car to run and be driven, however none of my lights or directionals work. I can wiggle the key to get it into the correct position, but sometimes it is not obvious that the key is in the wrong position. This results in me driving without headlights in the rain and thinking that I am signaling properly in turns when in fact everything is off.
