Transmission jerks/bucks at random times. It is scary, because you never know when it is going to happen. Sometimes when it "jerks" there is a clunk sound and the check engine light comes on. When the car is restarted the check engine light doesn't always come on again. I would assume that a transmission light would come on instead of the check engine light, because most late model cars have a transmission light. This problem is making us worry that the transmission is going to fail when were in the middle of nowhere! I have a new name for Chrysler: "Crapsler"
This car is only a 2008! It shouldn't have transmission problems yet!!!
Update from Sep 11, 2013: The car was brought into the dealer today by my father, he had to receive permission, as it is a company vehicle. They supposedly drove it and checked everything, but they said they couldn't find the problem and were receiving tons of error codes. So, all they did was clear the error codes and sent it back home. They said if it happens again to call back. This is ridiculous! If there is an issue with a car, they need to KEEP it until the problem is solved!!! What a bunch of bull! I'll post again if anything more happens.
Update from Dec 25, 2014: The car has surprisingly made it to 200,000 miles (December 2014). I am hoping that it won't start or that it won't go into gear one day, so that my father's company will buy him a new car! I pray that it won't be another Dodge. Unfortunately, the company that he works for only buys American vehicles, so maybe they'll go with Ford this time. I do not fully trust GM products due to everything that has been on the news and on Car Complaints: GM has carelessly taken, as of Dec. 2014, 38+ lives due to their defective vehicles. Our family car is a 2013 Ford Escape with the 2.0L engine- it has been ok so far, knock on wood, despite numerous recalls. Hopefully my father's company will buy him a new Ford Transit minivan if everything goes in our favor. The good news in all this is that Dodge is discontinuing the Grand Caravan for 2016. Will update if anything new comes up!
