The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was inspected and confirmed that the body control module needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The current and failure mileages were 130,000.
The passenger side rear door malfunctions while opening using the power open option. It opens part way and then stops or closes again. The driver side does not open at all using the power open option, only by opening manually. I am concerned for the safety of rear passengers entering/exiting the van and being struck/trapped by the door when it changes directions. It is caused by a short in the wiring harness that powers the doors which could potentially cause a fire.

2005 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT - bought used from barreth car dealership in Washington, mo in Aug. 2009 - 45000 miles locks stopped working - still wont work unless fuse is pulled over and over again and again - oxygen sensors stopped working ac/heater fan stopped working.

I found on the internet that a bought 63 complaints about the power sliding doors on my 05 Dodge Grand Caravan well I hate to be 64 but I was led to the problem in side the wiring harness there is a red and black wire the door will stop working when the wire breaks and gets exposed there are a lot of complaints that these wires need to be fixed.
I just bought a used 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT. Its my second day and the headlight would not turn on when I rotated the selector. The parking and fog lights worked fine. I also noticed when I had the fog lights on with the parking lights and then rotated the selector to headlights, the dashlights turned off. The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Caravan. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. The battery was replaced at 19,000 miles but to no avail. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they checked the battery but found no failure. They then removed the iod fuse and then placed it back into the vehicle seconds later and the vehicle was able to be started. The current mileage was 53,000 and the failure mileages was 19,000.
My Dodge mini van began to make a strange noise but I did not have the money to take it back to the dealer as they had already ripped me off for a previous failure of the egr valve (at about 30,000 miles). After that huge bill I decided to ask a friend of mine from church who is a certified mechanic to listen to my Dodge. He said the power steering pump was wearing out and it would eventually need to be replaced! I could not believe this at only 65,000 miles. I wrote a letter to the Chrysler corporation and had a call from one of their reps. He refused to consider that Chrysler had any problems with the production of the mini van. I was supposed to call my warranty folks (warranty already out) as my power steering should not have failed. Hello---does this not mean that Chrysler has major responsibility in this?? as soon as I can call about my warranty I will contact the warranty company. The bottom line is- Chrysler will not accept any responsibility for the safety or quality of their products. I would not have another Chrysler product if they were being given away for free. When their vehicles are made unsafe to drive they will not help you or accept responsibility for their own product defects.
For the past 2 years I have had a problem wit the door locks not working. No warning they just quit. I have to disconnect the battery and reconnect to get them to start working. Last week my windows started working intermittently. There is a definite electronics problem with this model of van.
2005 Dodge Grand Caravan SE. Headlights turn off with no warning. Flipping the switch back and forth has no effect on restoring function. You just have to wait for the lights to decide to turn back on by themselves. This problem seems to occur in clusters: About 2 to 3 times in a week, and about 1 week out of every 6 to 8 months. For obvious reasons, this could be extremely dangerous.
The automatic door locks on my 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT "short out" regularly. The keyless entry does not unlock or lock the doors, the vehicle does not lock the doors automatically when shifting into drive or reverse, and the automatic doors do not work when the door locks are malfunctioning. I can pull the iod fuse and reset the locks, but it is a temporary fix to the problem that does not work for en extended period of time. I am taking the vehicle to the dealership for repair. I am reporting this problem as it seems that many people are experiencing the same issue. This is a safety concern that seems to need resolution. Lights off during operation.... off at turn on and now will not come on no matter what I do.... told by several they are having same trouble... real safety issue the first time as it went out while driving down dark road.

The vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop where several fuses were replaced but the failure recurred. The vehicle was then taken to an authorized dealer where an actuator for the sliding doors was replaced but the failure recurred shortly after the contact retrieved the vehicle from the dealer. The failure mileage was 80,000 and the current mileage was 94,000.
2005 Dodge Grand Caravan automatic door locks & windows stopped working. Problem occurred at about 68000 miles vehicle currently 133000 miles. Would take out iod fuse for 15 minutes would work for a couple of cycles then would have to repeat the process. Now I'm having to take out the 40 amp BCM fuse. It starts working only for a day are so. I haven't found a solution to the problem or why it only works for a couple of cycles then goes dead.
2005 Dodge Grand Caravan. Gauges fail intermittently. After restarting, gauges start working normally again. Dealer indicates BCM and instrument cluster need to be replaced.
The door automatic door locks quit working. You cannot open the vehicle without the key. The locks no longer lock automatically when you get up to speed. I have checked on car complaints.com and this appears to be a very common problem that Dodge is refusing to acknowledge.
