My young daughter was able to open the sliding door on our 2005 Dodge Caravan at highway speeds ! apparently the automatic door locks failed to operate, and my research online indicates this is a common failure mode. Dealer update software flash rom but problem recurred shortly thereafter.

1. power sliding doors on my 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan opened about 6 inches then stop. Now they have stopped working altogether 2. the failure is constant 3. I have checked both fuses and relays. I took it into my electrical mechanic but he could not run a diagnostic because only Chrysler diagnostic tools can read the doors.

My 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT minivan has two power sliding doors. Both power sliding doors have failed. It is difficult to open the doors manually. I am requesting that Dodge issue a recall to fix the numerous 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan power sliding doors that have failed.

I have a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan and have had nothing but electrical problems with it. Our automatic sliding door on passenger side has been repaired once already and quit working about 6 months later. Our power door locks now will not work with either the key fob or from inside on the switch. The lights on the dash go out and come on a various times. These are serious issues and dealerships are charging an arm and leg to just look at it and you still aren't guaranteed how long it will remain functional.

Dodge 2005 Grand Caravan. Driver side door would refuse to open with inside button by door. Would open if pushed console button. The door would decide that it was not closed properly and fully open while driving. (very dangerous). The passenger side would open only if you used the key bob and had a jerky motion that would trip a sensor and close the door(usually on a passenger getting in or out of the vehicle. The door was adjusted and door motor replaced. Still had a problem with the door occasionally bumping the side of the vehicle. Verified that the vehicle had not been in an accident and resolved by leaving the plastic interior door cover off. The problem with the doors opening and closing by themselves was found in both cases to be linked to the door wiring harness. Also both door refuse to lock (not a thing that you check when looking at a car and was found by accident) searching the internet showed that this was a well known problem.

2005 Dodge Grand Caravan, 54,000 miles, passenger side door would close to within 6-8 inches using electronic buttons or key and stop. Was able to open and close manually for a day or two, then was not able to open door at all. After trying several times, was finally able to open door from outside. How in the world could anyone, my grandchildren for instance, get the door open in an emergency.

Driver's side automatic sliding door only opens 6-8", then stops. Must be manually opened/closed. Problem recurs every time automatic control is engaged, and doors are clearly not geared for manual opening/closing... this is a concern as it is very difficult to get out of the vehicle if in any seats other than front.

Our drivers side power sliding door is now on it's 3rd or 4th motor. Dealership replaced it, then my last one was installed by my independent garage. Dodge knows they have a issue with these. The passenger power sliding door has also had the motor replaced, and I just had the harness replaced due to a broken wire in it. Once again, Dodge knows these have problems, according to my dealership. These items should be recalled and replaced for free. The van only has 52K miles on it.

The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan. While driving approximately 45 mph on normal road conditions, the air bag warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. The indicator remained lit until the engine was turned off. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnostic testing and they stated that the failure was caused by corrosion in the wire connector and the front driver's side impact sensor. The vehicle was repaired. The VIN was excluded from NHTSA campaign id number 07V192000 (airbags, frontal, sensor/control module), although the failures were identical. The failure mileage was 70,000 and current mileage was 71,800. Updated 05/05/09 the drivers side sliding door was difficult to open manually and the passenger sliding door did not open all the way. Updated 05/07/09.

The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan. The front driver side window will not go up or down. Also, the electrical system (locking system) does not work. The key has to be manually inserted to unlock or lock the door. The sliding doors are no longer working properly and occasionally become stuck and cannot be opened at all. Water is entering through the front passenger side door handle and creating puddles of water in the vehicle. The warranty expired and the contact was informed that the repair was his responsibility. The purchase date was unknown. The current mileage was 54,424 and failure mileage was 54,400. Updated 02-06-08. The consumer stated he had the vehicle repaired at the cost of $421.56 for locks and windows and obtained an estimate for the sliding van doors at the tune of $773.38. Updated 02/06/08

Dash board lights intermittently flicker. The vehicle will be taken to the local dealership tomorrow for a recall and will be inspected for the first time for the lights flickering. Additionally, the rear passenger door has made a strange noise when the chain engages to open ever since the van was purchased. It was inspected once with the dealer not finding anything wrong. A year later, the door only opens 1/2 way when remote or button is used and will not close with the use of either. This will be inspected tomorrow as well.

: the contact stated the exhaust pipe protrudes below the bottom of the vehicle. The child may touch this pipe. Updated 5/10/2006 - the exhaust pipe protrudes below the bottom of the vehicle and is too close to the outside edge (rocker panel). The pipe is located on the right side of the vehicle which is the side the consumer child safety seat is installed. When the sliding door is opened the child could be burned by the pipe. The consumer indicated that the pipe is only like this on the stow and go model Grand Caravan. Updated 5/10/2006 - the parking brake cable had to be replaced and rerouted. The engine ran rough while idling and in park. The fuel gauge was erratic. At 1/4 of a tank or less the needle moves back and forth from empty to 1/4 of a tank.

We own a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan with no automatic back door. After purchasing it in Nov 2004 and upon periodic operation of the door, my back started getting sore and painful. One day in Feb of 2005 after closing the back door manually within 2 days I reached over for an apple that fell on the floor and fell to the floor in terrible pain and had to be rushed to the doctor. I still have problems until this day and now have protruding disks in my lower back. I have never had low back problems and now sciatica before Feb 2005. I am getting tired of doctors and chiropractors to solve this problem. What can I do?

Have 2005 Grand Caravan. It has 24,000 miles. The air bag light came on. I am taking it to the dealer tomorrow. Also, the driver interior map light doesn't work, eventhough the bulb is ok. (am having that checked tomorrow, too.) when the light first went out, the automatic side doors stopped working. They didn't work for about 2 weeks and when I decided I had time to go to the dealer to get it checked, the doors started working again and have seemed fine since. The light, however, still doesn't work. The rear passenger map lights also come on randomly (usually overnight). There is a clunking noise in the driver side front end. We had some parts repaired on it in Dec. (though the dealer did say they weren't sure what the problem was), but the noise is still there. (am having that checked tomorrow as well.)
