2005 Dodge Grand Caravan. The door locks will quit working. You must manually lock the doors but the rear hatch will not lock. I can remove the fuse for the door locks and the problem is fixed, however this does not last but a couple of weeks.
At 32,050 miles, the power door locks on our 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan suddenly failed to work. This was discovered after parking the car and turning off the ignition. The inside door lock switches and key fobs couldn't operate the locks, despite the usual accompanying parking light flickers and horn toots when the key fobs were tried. I discovered that 75 other drivers reported the same problem on the following website: www.carcomplaints.com/Dodge/Caravan/2005/electrical/power_door_locks_quit_working.shtml the customer input on this website provides useful information about the problem and what may be causing it, as well as Chrysler's apparent indifference to it. I was able to restore operation by pulling and reinserting a 20A fuse (marked iod), which as I understand it resets the computer. The solution to the problem may be the reprogramming of the vehicle's computer. I have no idea why that should be necessary after 30,000+ miles driven and no new accessories installed or modifications made to the car. It sounds like a defective software glitch to me. This could have dire consequences when prompt opening of all the vehicle's doors is needed during emergencies, and many families with children depend upon minivans like ours.
2005 Dodge Grand Caravan, door locks fail to lock/unlock. Remote key sounds, lights flash, to all appearances the locks seem to have functioned but looking down thru the windows the locks have not changed state. This vehicle has one door lock on the drivers door and one the tailgate. In a emergency this limits access to passengers, the false sense of security implied by the horn and lights as positive feedback that the locks functioned is poor engineering. Dodge service states that flashing the BCM module will repair the fault at $79 charge. If the problem is software it is my hope there will be a recall for this problem.
I have a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan. The power door locks stopped working. When replacing the fuse, it will start working again. This is only a temporary fix as it will happen again. I believe this is a safety issue. I have children and a grandbaby. I really think that Dodge or Chrysler should fix this problem.

2005 Dodge Caravan the power sliding doors on both sides started with only opening or closing a small amount now they don't do anything at all. The doors are no longer power doors the only way to get them open is manually. I did a search to try and find out what the problem could be and found 1000's of complaints of the same issues. My van has had problems from the get go when we purchased it, they wold fix it and it would work for a while and then the same problems would start again this happened over and over and now the warranty has expired. I would like to know what needs to happen to start a recall or a class action law suit against them?
Our Dodge Grand Caravan locks stopped working (neither the keys or the automatic button work). My husband has looked up a quick fix (pulling the iod fuse and reinserting it). However this keeps happening and it is a safety issue because you can't get into or out of your vehicle quickly. Especially for families with young children.
All door locks quick working on my 2005 Dodge Caravan. This is a known problem where pulling the iod fuse will reset something to fix it. This is a serious safety liability on the part of Chrysler. This has been a known problem for several years and nothing is being done about it.
The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan. The power door locks on all of the vehicle doors stopped working. The doors would open manually from inside the vehicle, but when entering the vehicle only the drivers side door could be opened with the key. The contact had to crawl through the vehicle in order to open the other doors. A mechanic looked at the vehicle and was unable to figure out what was causing the failure to occur. The dealer had not looked at the vehicle. The failure mileage was 110000 and the current mileage was 111560.
The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan. While the vehicle was parked, the contact attempted to lock the vehicle remotely but the vehicle did not lock. The contact heard a clicking sound as if the vehicle locked but when he checked the doors they were unlocked. The contact was only able to lock the vehicle manually. He called the dealer and they advised him to bring the vehicle in and have it repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 71,500 and the current mileage was 71,738. Updated 01/06/11 the consumer stated he removed the battery connection and the problem was corrected for a week and then the door locks failed again. Updated 03/30/11
Dodge Grand Caravan SXT 2005 door lock will not lock to unlock. I consider this to be a safety issue. No one seems to know what causes this malfunction. This should be a Chrysler recall.
My 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan's power locks have stopped working. This is a safety hazard as there is only one lock on the drivers side. I guess a recall won't happen until a child is injured or someone is raped/killed because they couldn't get into their car quick enough. I am calling the dealer to take care of this problem and I will never buy a Dodge again. They clearly do not care for the safety and well being of their customers.
Door locks are no longer functioning on Dodge 2005 Grand Caravan. Have read several blogs that list the same defect. Removing iod fuse and replacing fixes the issue temporarily.
The door automatic door locks quit working. You cannot open the vehicle without the key. The locks no longer lock automatically when you get up to speed. I have checked on car complaints.com and this appears to be a very common problem that Dodge is refusing to acknowledge.
My 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan the auto door locks/remote door locks have stopped working. Have tried following instructions in manual and even have tried disconnecting the battery cable to reset. These were only temporary fixes, that no longer works along with the doors. I have to manually lock/unlock the doors which is a huge inconvenience with a child under the age of 2. my fear now is that my child will figure out how to open the door since it wont lock and fall out. The remote door lock feature was one of the reasons why we purchased this vehicle because of our family. Please have this recalled so we can feel safe with our children.
