Having searched online, the water in the rear tail lights is a known issue. Having just had to replace the front radiator (on a car less than 4 years old at under 40k miles), I'm realizing why it's not a good idea to buy FCA!
If I have to buy.a new rear light assembly at over $1200, it seems I'll be buying a new car and trading this crap in asap.
