This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
The moonroof of the car spontaneously exploded as we were driving down the interstate. There was no incident that caused this...nothing struck our car, we did not go over any bumps or anything like that. There was a very loud explosion sound and the glass shattered into hundreds of pieces. Thank god we had the sunshade closed at the time. Our children were riding in the second row and would have had glass fly at them at 75 miles an hour. It was an incredibly scary incident. We looked this up and it seems to be a known problem with many cars with moonroofs, yet no one seems to be doing anything about it. This glass needs to be tempered like the windshield! We are in the process of getting it repaired at the dealership yet. They are not taking any responsibility for it being a defect and are charging us the full amount to have it replaced. $1600. I
The window cowl has deteriorated and causing lots of road noise- it has been going on for a while but just now figured out the issue. There are a lot of complaints surrounding this- if this ultimately fails it can cause leakage to the brake master cylinder or other damage from water.
The cowling on the lower part of the windshield has been warped since I took delivery of the Durango in 12/2013. While driving above 65 mph or in windy conditions, a buzzing sound can be heard. From a web search, many others report the same issue, and also report that dealerships say that Dodge knows about this issue. This issue will reportedly flood the engine with water in heavy rain, but this has not happened to me.
The cowl has warped allowing rain water to leake into the engine compartment. And under windshield. And while driving air getting under windshield is creating a buzzing noise. While I was at Dodge I noticed on the newer model Dodge Durango they have redesigned the cowl. I have talked with Chrysler customer care they have opened up a case. (casr number 64813561)
July 14, 2019 - while the Dodge Durango is in motion, the dash display suddenly went blank, various sensor lights turned on, transmission gear would not shift, and the wiper blades intermittently turned on. Similarly problem was experienced in May 2019, when the repair shop identified and replaced a faulty BCM (body control module). I took the vehicle to a local Dodge dealership about a month ( June 2019), for the same problem and the dealership identified the wiring harness to be faulty. After some diagnosis, the dealership reset the codes, asked me to drive the vehicle some more to see if the problem reoccurs. It has been a month since I took the vehicle to the dealership and the problem has reoccured several times. I feel this is a real safety issues especially when I have my kids in the car and the electrical issues arises while the vehicle is in motion. This problem is very concerning to me as the problem has occured one time while I was driving on the highway, and three time while driving on city streets. Please investigate this matter urgently as I consider this issue to be a serious vehicle problem or hazard. Any Durango owner and their family could potentially get seriously hurt.

Rear backup lamp light bar assembly is leaking water. Water visibly observed in light bar and causing led's to fade. Had it resealed by dealership continued to leak and now light bar has completely failed and no longer turns on, this is a major safety concern as well due to license plate light no longer functioning as well. Vehicle is scheduled to go in for repairs regarding a failed light bar and safety issue.
I've notice that when I'm driving on highways or around the city, wipers come on by itself. That happen twice... sometimes the sunroof don't open, when the sunroof opens don't want to close sometimes. When I'm on the highway can't seem to get enough power to catch up with traffic, seems like the transmission is about to give out. Very laggy....the notification for engine/trans comes off/on at times. Other to sound weird but I believe someone has access remotely to vehicle. All this happens on a daily or every few days I've noticed.
When turning on the turn signal indicater the wind shield wipers come on even though they are in the off position. Once they come on they continue to run. On occasion they will turn off when running through a variety of options on the same stick such as flashing the bright light (pull in the stick) or turning on the signal again in the other diretion. There is no rhyme or reason to any of it. This past weekend I pressed the button to start and the wipers went on even though the indicator is in the off position. Then suddenly the radio went on even though we did not turn it on and this caused the wipers to stop. This looks a lot like a major electrical problem and we are not concerned that this might be a totally integrated power module problem which is currently under inviestication for recall.
