CarComplaints.com Notes: The third generation Durango is plagued by a defective TIPM, particularily in the 2011 and 2012 model years.
TIPM, which stands for Totally Integrated Power Modules, is responsible for controlling and distributing power to all the vehicle’s electrical functions. So when your TIPM goes haywire, bad things start happening. Things like your water pump can stop working, your engine can stall out and your airbags can randomly deploy.
2011 Dodge Durango was on the road for less than 300 miles when during the course of opening the Sunroof if fell off the rail system and crushed the internal structure under the head liner.
Dodge of Smokey Point Wa. State was asked to fix this under warrantee. They (Dealer & Chrysler) knew of the problem with this vehicle and fixed the Sunroof per Chrysler Tech data. They knew the problem existed and told no one until it actually fails AFTER you buy the vehicle.
Problem is, is that now the my Head Liner has been removed from its FACTORY installation hard points to fix the Sunroof I have; rattles, squeaks, miss fairs and miss alignments everywhere.
Thanks Chrysler for shipping our New Vehicles with known defects leaving it to the buyer to fix and Dodge Dealers to mitigate.
PS: My employee who bought a 2012 Dodge Durango this year had the same issue 7 days after taking ownership !!!
