CarComplaints.com Notes: The third generation Durango is plagued by a defective TIPM, particularily in the 2011 and 2012 model years.

TIPM, which stands for Totally Integrated Power Modules, is responsible for controlling and distributing power to all the vehicle’s electrical functions. So when your TIPM goes haywire, bad things start happening. Things like your water pump can stop working, your engine can stall out and your airbags can randomly deploy.

air bag did not deploy

The entire front end of my 2011 Dodge Durango was badly damaged and pushed in during a collision at an intersection. To the surprise of local law enforcement, an off-duty fireman, the tow truck driver and myself no airbags were deployed. I do not know how the sensor was not activated during this collision. The other vehicle ran a red light and was traveling at 25-30 MPH. I was 2/3 thru the intersection and was accelerating when the collision occurred.
