CarComplaints.com Notes: The third generation Durango is plagued by a defective TIPM, particularily in the 2011 and 2012 model years.

TIPM, which stands for Totally Integrated Power Modules, is responsible for controlling and distributing power to all the vehicle’s electrical functions. So when your TIPM goes haywire, bad things start happening. Things like your water pump can stop working, your engine can stall out and your airbags can randomly deploy.

We bought a new 2011 Dodge Durango Express around Oct 2011. At approximately 45,500 miles I noticed the back up camera stoped working. At that point in time I was unable to take the vehicle back to the dealer to have fixed. Around March 2016 we noticed the AC fan was unable to turn oin. Since our vehicle back to the dealorship since it was no longer under warranty I took it to the local Firestone were they done an electronic check and they inform me that there was no problems with my AC fan switch or the AC itself. They iunformed me they could turn the AC off and on using there computer at there shop. However that the problem was in the vehicle computer system and that we would have to return it to the dealorship to repair.

To make matter orst there is no after market computer computer for this yedar and model yet. The lastest year listed is 2009 and the cost of a new computer is appoox $569.00 at the dealorship.

Since we are living in SW Florida, disabbled, careing for my 81 y/o sister and I am unable to paid for such a repair no longer having a warrenty - I am basical scrrewedther having to drive anywhere in this very hot and very humid weather. We can only drive very shoirint ntrips with all the windows open!
