CarComplaints.com Notes: The third generation Durango is plagued by a defective TIPM, particularily in the 2011 and 2012 model years.
TIPM, which stands for Totally Integrated Power Modules, is responsible for controlling and distributing power to all the vehicle’s electrical functions. So when your TIPM goes haywire, bad things start happening. Things like your water pump can stop working, your engine can stall out and your airbags can randomly deploy.
First the shop told me I need a new compressor, next time new condenser, next time blend door actuator, blower motor, resistor, pass temp temp actuator, and recirc. actuator. After replacing all those parts, same problem, then I go back after youtubing and come to find out it was the right temperature door. There’s a gear price of that part 42.00 all the other bulls*** over 2500.00. It’s a damn shame - the air conditioner kept cutting in and out, and now it's fine.
I have dumped more than $4,000 into getting this vehicle fixed from cam phasers to air conditioner condensers. I am about to call it quits. The entire AC unit went out on my Dodge Durango and it will cost $2,700 to fix. I am considering other options now as I may likely trade-in and get what I can for the Durango and cut my losses. Extremely disappointed in the 2011 Dodge Durango.
I took my durango in to have the a/c looked at. Their tests showed nothing wrong. However, it is blowing out hot air...something sure isn't right. Probably related to the faulty TIPM...
