possessed durango almost got all of us killed in the car. now i have no car to drive. i brought it to five mechanics. spent almost 3k and still stalls. none were able tell me that it may be a TIPM issue. electrical issue. worried about being BURNED ALIVE WITH MY FAMILY IN THIS CAR.

while driving this happened... - doors unlocked and actually locked on their own.....possessed thing - i was locked into my own car with my family and pets on the hottest day of the year. this is horrible!! - the horn started beeping randomly in the middle of the night. couldn't stop the horn :-( - power windows once locked for hours with the doors. till the friggin car decided to work again. - the engine stalled while driving my son to the dr one day. we stopped and stalled at least 8 times within five miles. - the starter cranked but wont turn over....spent so much money getting this car started ..for it to die hours later.

very sad for such a beautiful car ! :-(

Durango LS 4.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 147,000 miles

We bought this car back in 2009. It had 20k miles on it. (This 2007 Dodge Durango) We have had intermittent electronic issues such as transmission down shifting and up shifting really hard. Wipers coming on when they are not on. Wipers not coming on when they are on. Turn the right blinker on and the left blinker comes on. Car shuts down with no warning and have to stop put the car in park turn the ignition off and pull the key... put the key back in to re-start the car!! Engine Idles erratically sometimes. Engine light will come on for a few days then go off.

I have put a code scanner on this car and all kinds of codes come up from Throttle position sensor, IAC sensor, Oxygen sensor, Cam sensor..

I can take the negative battery cable off... Take the ground wires off all the ECMs... unplugged the ECM's all for about 5 mins. Plug every thing back up and crank the car back up and all works as if it was new for a month or so then its back the same problems again..

I have looked into recalls for this vehicle. At first I was told there was a recall on the transmission software I looked into it and no Recalls available for my vin... Now all these intermittent problems come up on the news a few months back(MARCH 2015) about Dodge vehicles and again no recalls on MY vin. Now that dodge has a massive buyback program on Dodge vehicles and what do you know... MY VIN IS NOT PART OF ANY RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH ANY OF THE PROBLEMS I HAVE BEEN HAVING FOR SO LONG... If someone has any information for where I might get a TIPM I would be very interested to know where as I believe this may be my intermittent problem. Since Dodge wont fix it for me I need to fix it myself! I think this has detoured me from buying dodge ever again! I have heard about other Durango's having this issue and have caught on fire!! I hope this doesn't happen to mine!

Update from Aug 21, 2015: Car continues to shut off randomly. you can put the car back in park and it will crank back up but then a day or so later it stars shutting back off?? I think it has something to do with the TIPM.. And of course Dodge won't recognize this issue associated with myu VIN# :(

The dreaded "no bus" just popped up on my Durango. Thanks Dodge! It's awesome being stranded on Christmas Eve! Good thing this site is here so I at least I know what the issue is- considering the last 4 (FOUR!!!!!) times it's been in your shop in the 10 ( JUST 10 ) months I have owned the piece of crap your warranty company can't fix the OTHER issues.

Seriously will NEVER buy a Dodge or Chrysler again.

Durango SLT 318

  • Automatic transmission
  • 28,000 miles

Driving along and suddenly I hear dinging, look down and every warning light is lit up, and no gauges are working! SUV is still running fine, but no turn signals and no windshield wipers. Turn suv off and lights and dinger stays on! Unhook battery and re-connect and everything appears to be back to normal. Two days later, fuel level, 4x4 service and engine warning lights are on, fuel gauge is not working, no blinkers or windshield wipers, and seat warmers come on and won't turn off! WTF! Has any one witnessed this before?

Update from Oct 18, 2010: Turns out the power control module which is in the drivers side foot well area left of the parking brake had gotten wet when the widshield was leaking two years ago. Over time it corroded and corroded the wiring connections which then shorted and shorted out the cluster for the insturment panel. Had they checked for water damage when they had to replace the windshield (especially when it was noted on the work order that water was running down the driver winshield post!) this could have been avoided. They covered the repairs under factory warranty with a $200 deductible even though the vehicle was out of factory warranty by 5 months, but only because I said I would not pay for something that lead back to work they had done. Note to others, do not be afraid to stand up for yourself, if I had said nothing they were going to charge me for the full bill which would have been in the thousands after being in the shop for 3 weeks!

The windows, horn, wipers, and lights will not work - it goes on and off. When you purchase a car that is only three years old, it should not have all those problems. It said that the 2007 Durango model was the worst ever. So why no recall.
