When filling fuel tank completely, fuel spits back out at the owner and down the quarter panel, every time. We purchased this vehicle used one month ago. We've tried different gas pumps at different gas stations owned by different companies. I feel this vehicle should be covered under the recall that covers earlier Durangos. I rather lick a fat clown's [xxx] than buy another Chrysler product. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
There have been 2 recalls to date on the model year 2005 Durango, 44,951 all together. With my 2006 Dodge Durango, fuel sprays out of the fill tube because of a check valve that has already been recalled two different times. No warnings, no letters to the owners of the Durango now to advise them to use caution. Please open an investigation now and have this serious safety issue corrected for all of the Durango owners on the road today. This is a serious safety concnern. The problem has already been identified in earlier models, and there seems to be significant issues with the 2006 models as well.
During refueling, when the fuel nozzle stops, there is an overflow of fuel spraying out of the fuel tank neck. What is it going to take for your Agency to have an investigation" for an individual to burn while pumping gas due to a spark or even worse, to die? there was a recall for the same car on the previous year, why is there no recall for the 2006 model since it is the same problem"
Gasoline sprays back onto person filling the tank after the pump kicks off. Safety issue just purchased as a used vehicle from the Dodge dealership in pulaski, wi S&L motors 2298 hwy 32 pulaski, wi 54162
Beginning about a year and a half ago, my 2006 Dodge Durango slt began spewing gasoline everytime I filled my car at the gas station. It continues to do this since that time and even though Dodge has issued a technical service bulletin for this problem, since my car's VIN is not listed as eligible for the extended warranty and repair I am out of luck. I filed an appeal with Dodge and it seems the criteria for whether or not the repair will be covered is based on whether I am a good Dodge customer. Questions such as did I use the dealership for maintenance, did I own other Dodge cars, etc. I think that since this is a known problem, that Dodge should stand behind its cars and make the repair. This attitude guarantees that I will not be a Dodge customer in the future.

When filling the gas tank with gasoline, the gas will come spilling out once the tank is full. Approximately a pint of gasoline comes squirting out, dousing the handle, side of the vehicle and leaving a puddle of gasoline on the ground. The only way for this to not happen is to prevent filling the car gas tank. I.e. one cannot let the gas overflow mechanism determine when it is full. A recall was already made for the 2005 Durango under recall id# 05V034000. My used 2006 vehicle has the same problem.
Every time I fill up with gas it erupts back out of the tank. The local dealer says it is the fuel tank filler check valve. This is located inside the fuel tank. The solution is to replace the fuel tank. Dodge did a recall on the 2005 Durango but not the 2006 Durango. $900 for the part plus labor.

When filling up with gasoline, upon the fuel pump turning off, the Durango's fuel tank will spray gasoline back out to the individual filling up, and leak fuel all over the vehicle and ground. This happens every time I fill up, regardless of filling station. This is documented in countless forums and videos online. The 2005 Durango has a recall for this as Dodge recognized the risk of a vehicle or fuel station fire. This is dangerous, easily repeatable, and terrible for the environment. And worse yet, Dodge even appears to be aware of the situation. This should be fixed by Dodge.

The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but assistance with repairs was denied because the vehicle was not included in the recall associated with NHTSA campaign id number 05V034000 (fuel system gasoline: Storage: Tank assembly: Filler pipe and cap). Fuel spray at the end of refueling contacted Dodge for the concern for a service bulletin dated 1-20-2012 but my veh doesn't have a X39 for the unlimited time and mileage warranty extension, the bulletin states for 2006-2008 Durango and 2007-2008 aspen, no build date, no salt belt area, no engine size. Dodge decides what Durango gets a X39..and if the cust;experiences this symptom/condition, proceed with the repair what does it take to get the X39 so we can get this fixed...
Gasoline spews from filler neck every time when I fill tank with gasoline. Every filling station I stop at is the same!! I spill gasoline on me, the car, the pavement. The nozzle will not shut off automatically. If someone were to throw a cigarette toward me there could be a gasoline fire with me in the middle of it. My dealer says there must be a problem with me when I fill my tank. I am 63 years of age, and have owned 15 cars or so, with no problems like this!!!!!!!!!!!!
Every time I fill my gas tank the following events take place: The gas stations nozzle clicks when the tank is full. A bubbling sound is heard followed by a gush of gasoline spewing from the fill neck onto me and the vehicle. The only way to prevent this from occuring is to try and guess when the tank is nearing full and stop pumping. I've read numerous article about idential problems. There was a recall for the 2005 Durango but no recall for the 2006 Durango. I've contacted Dodge and it is something that'd I'd be responsible for paying for. Therefor I haven't fixed it because of the expense involved.
