The cruise control and horn quit working. I was checking the internet to see what could be wrong with it. I found the recall for replacing the clockspring in the steering wheel and this could cause my problems plus cause my air bag to not deploy in an accident. I contacted the dealer and was told my # (*)was not included and to call Chrysler, which I did. I was told the same thing and that I should take it to be fixed and then if it were added to the recall I would be reimbursed. I don't feel I should be responsible for this repair and I don't have the money for it. What happens if I'm in an accident like the ones I've read in some of these other complaints and my air bag does not deploy. Is it just sol or can I sue Chrysler? I feel they should include mine and the others in the recall.

Winding sound in steering when tuning wheel, horible sound while turning wheels and backing up, door locks are in locked position (can't open to get out of car and loud sound going off when door locks are supposed to self lock at 25 mph)bought car in 2001, after 6 mo took car to dearership to report problems while still under warranty and they said nothing was wrong. Still have paperwork to show of the complaints.I have 3 small grandchildren I take care of and Transport in the vehicle. Hope you people do something about this before someone dies or you will really be out of pocket. I have less that 60,000 miles on SUV so this can't be due to wear and tear. ( I marked oem yes if that pertains to original parts on SUV).

I stopped at a stop sign and waited for the other vehicle to go by. As they passed me, I made a right turn and headed South in the same direction. Within 30 ft after I took off from the stop sign, I glanced to the left and when I looked forward the vehicle in front me had stopped. I turned my wheels to the right and struck the other vehicle. My driver front corner struck his rear right corner. I was only going 20 mph because of the school and all the children were present on both sides of the street. My vehicle's front driver side was pushed in and then it started on fire. Within a matter of minutes the vehicle was engulfed in flames. By the time the fire department came the vehicle was a total loss. I called DaimlerChrysler and explained what has happened. I was told that they will investigate and let me know what they have found. Chrysler went into great detail why the air bags did not deploy, but as far as fire goes I was told " it appears the impact caused a short, which started the fire". no other explanation was given at all. From the stop sign to where accident happened was about 220 ft. I don't think that a $34,000 vehicle should be lost at 20mph impact. I was given Chrysler file #[xxx]. vehicle: 2000 Dodge Durango, VIN [xxx] St. Francis, wi police department & St. Francis fire department came out to the accident site. My wife hit a concrete barrier housing a 30 ft. Pole head on doing approx $9000 damage. She had to be taken by paramedics to a local hospital beacause her head hit & broke the visor and visor arm then hit the steering wheel when the airbags did not deploy. She was driving approx 15 mph when the accident occurred. She was out of work a week due to her injuries and still has medical issues. Chrysler sent an investigator to check the system who stated it was fine.
