This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
In September, a noise that I had thought to be a wind noise was identified to me by a passenger as engine knocking. The truck, which had been in to the dealer numerous times already for other issues, was brought to the dealer for checking. We were advised, contrary to the manual's suggestions, to try a higher octane fuel. The noise did not go away and we brought the truck back in in early November. We were told that there was a "ftsb" coming from the manufacturer. After a number of days they called and told me nothing was coming up and to take the truck back home. I did not hear from them for some time and the knocking was getting worse so I returned the truck for repairs. Repairs were attempted twice after this with nothing correcting the problem. I just called the service department today to let them know that I was hearing the pinging again and I was told that the "tsb" they had expected 2 months ago was still supposed to come out and they want me to wait. This was their response when I told them I was tired of bringing the truck in for this repair and I felt that the truck was becoming more and more damaged as a result of the pinging.
While driving approx 35-40 mph the vehicle just flat shut off, electrical, brakes and steering. We are lucky due to lite traffic conditions. I was able to come to a safe stop and put vehicle into park to re-start. This vehicle will be going to the dealership 1st thing Monday morning for a check. I am advising you because if traffic conditions were different or I was on a freeway driving this could have caused a serious accident. I don't have alot of confidence in dealerships.
Our Durango has stalled and the engine completely stopped on 6 different occassions, each time in traffic, each time we have nearly had an accident. Dealer and manufacturer cannot find problem, dispite 4 different inspections, though the problem did repeat for them. They still can't find the reason. Beginning lemon law proceeding.
While turning into a parking lot and engine stalled/wheel locked up and power brakes quit.contacted dealer and manufacturer. Has been repaired 3 times.
