Rebuild Your ABS Control Module - If your ABS Pump Motor continues to run while the vehicle is turned off or your ABS and Brake lights stay on, you likely will want to rebuild your ABS Control Module, It's cheap to do, and you get a 5 Yr warranty. I have gone through 5 very expensive ABS control modules through the years before I found these guys, which ultimately solved my problem. If your ABS and Brake lights are on, your ABD Module is likely bad, it needs tobe replaced or rebuilt. Rebuilding it is FAR cheaper and BETTER than replacing it.
The problem is the brake, ABS, and speedometer. Are they considered 3 different problems? The ABS and brake light are one problem. They cam on at the same time. As far as I can tell from the maintenance manual it has something to do with the inputs+= tone rings in the front and back. It says the tires are turning, so the speedometer doesn't realize it so to speak. It is a frustration because we were trying to sell it when this happened. Now we would like to fix it and send it on its way. These 3 things are related. Help!!!! It has not been a problem until now.
Same problems as others reported here. ABS/Brake lights on, speedometer affected. Replaced rear ABS speed sensor in differential and solved the problem. Could only find part at NAPA (part 530778) for $30 with tax. However, NAPA had this listed under ABS (not speed sensor), and it was listed for only 4WD, though mine is 2WD. Installation was fairly simple, and I have very little automotive experience. The sensor unplugs from the top front of the differential casing after removing a nut and a stud/bolt. No need to open differential casing and replace fluid. I had to break the old one off to get it out, and used needle nose pliers to get the remaining piece out. New sensor is pushed into casing with the stud/bolt. Vague instructions are included with the new part. I disconnected the battery to reset the warning lights after the installation, though I'm not sure it was necessary.
I bought this car from a private sale almost three weeks ago. The fourth day I had it, it broke down need a new water pump $406.00. Pressure test to find the problem $70.00. New serpentine belt $80.00. Got it back from the dealership and later that night this problem occurred. Can we not trust private sales from old people either?
no fix in sight, two dealers can't figure it out, so I E-mailed dodge directly and mentioned the problem along with the number of people complaining about it on this site, they responded with "we don't know what it could be, try and find a dealer who can fix it"Lots of help that is!!!

If the speedometer isn't working it's 99% most likely a speed sensor. there are several speed sensors throughout the durango. Mine was a transmission speed sensor but it could have likely been a wheel censor to. The ABS system runs of speed sensor and if the sensor go out, the ABS cannot work. 1 yr experience at dealership.
Cannot get the brake light to stay off! The speedometer would only register after I hit 15 mph... now it stays at 0 mph until I'm over 50 mph. Its been serviced regularly... resetting the computer worked once for about two days.
ABS Light and Brake light came on, no check engine light on, which could help :(. Oil Pressure gauge drops to 0 when I stop and then bounces back up to normal. Speedometer also doesn't kick in until 15 MPH. I am going to probably change the speed sensor on the rear differential. I already had to change the one on the transmission so I know what problems that one causes. This really isn't causing any problems other than lights on. Vehicle is running good but this goofy electrical just had me change my alternator on suspicion and found belt was bad so changed it. When restringing the belt I noticed my tensioner spring was shot so I had to put a new one of them on and now something is really squeaking in there and I think it's the idler pulley. I am praying it's the idler pulley otherwise it's the damn water pump. I hate Dodge. They suck and they suck to work on too. I don't like my ford either. They all suck but at least Chevy makes their vehicles mechanic friendly.
Setting the cruise control at a certain speed, then as proceeding down a hill the truck continues to gain speed and cancelling or stepping on the break is the only way to slow the vehicle down. It is just plain scary. What is the use of cruise control, if you have to shut it down every time you go down a hill?
I had the same problem. My ABS and brake lights were on and the speedometer did not register lower than 20mph. After scanning I noticed the rear differential speed sensor wasn't registering. I pinpoint tested it and sure enough it was dead. It is a sensor bolted to the top of the rear differential. Replacement is quick, easy, and costs about $24.00 for a new sensor. After that was replaced everything went back to normal.
I'm having the same problems others are mentioning here. First abs brake light wouldn't go off. Mechanic swapped out the abs module and that wasn't the problem. Then speedometer & odometer just stopped working, now last night check engine is constantly on.. this has all happened this week. Has anybody resolved there issues with the same troubles and what was it... Thanks.
First the ABS light and Brake light stayed on and the speedometer doesn't kick in until about 50 K/H (about 30 miles/hour) and now while I was driving down the side of a mountain the truck just stopped working. I'm uncomfortable thinking of going to the mountains again until this gets fixed.
The ABS and brake light came on simultaneously and at the same time the speedometer doesn't work until you hit about 20mph. No one knows what is up with it, and no one knows how to fix it.
Abs lights, brake lights and check engine light come on. Also the speedometer does not work. Dealership has had it off and on for several months and can't figure it out. Have to return the car to me with out being able to fix it and have no suggestions!
