I had been experiencing vibration throughout vehicle while driving so I took to our mechanic. Had to replace all four ball joints and U-joint and get an alignment. I now have a lot of play in the steering, and am constantly correcting it just to go straight. Had looked at again and they could not find any problems. I found out that the ball joints had been recalled for years 2000-2003, but why not 1999??
Consumer states: The upper and lower ball joints on the front end on both sides are completely gone. Vehicle shakes and rattles uncontrollably. Bought used a year and half ago, also, the U joints were replaced 2 weeks after purchase. Have to have both hands on the wheel to control. Talked to Chrysler, and they recognized there was a problem, and will pay for upper ball joints, consumer will hav eto pay for lower joints and labor.
While driving vehicle was shaking and heard noise coming from the front end. Vehicle was taken to good year to perform a front alignment. Technician determined that upper ball joints, lower ball joints, and the constant velocity joint needed to be replaced at owner expense of $1000.
Pinion shaft snapped off, causing rear tires to lock up and cause a skid. Also drive shaft seperated from the rear end and slammed on the ground. The car was going about 20 mph. If we were going at highway speed the car probably would have been uncontrollable as the rear tires were instantly locked. Very dangerous situation..
