I have a 1998 Durango SLT+, I love my Durango. I wouldn't replace it for anything out there, but recently the engine cut off activates while driving, and it does this at a frequency of 2 seconds at a time. One day, in the winter, I was running the car at idle while it was parked. Next thing I know, I felt a rumble from the engine, enough where I felt the car shake a few times, and then the "Check Engine" light came on and the engine smoothed out. Thinking that the light would soon disappear, I drove the truck a few days later and noticed that the transmission wouldn't shift in to overdrive. I thought that was odd. I had a few friends (mechanics) check it out and found out that the TPS and the MAF sensors are no longer being recognized by the ECU. I replaced these sensors a few times with no resolution whatsoever. The overdrive issue is not as bad or annoying as the "engine cut off" constantly stopping the engine from turning. It does not turn the engine off, but its as if it needs to be at idle when I am driving. Not sure what it is. No one has been able to resolve this for me.
