  • 47,200 miles

I bought my 2014 Dart brand new in January of 2015. As of today (4/9/18), it has 47,200 miles on it. I was taking residential roads to drop my daughter off at school, slowing to stop at a stop sign and turn right. I thought I slowed too much and needed to slightly accelerate to get me to the stop sign. When trying to accelerate, I realized the car had stalled, but all inside lights and radio were still on. The "battery" light (charging system light) came on and stayed on until I turned the car off. I tried to restart the car, but all it would do was try to turn over. I know it's not the battery, as it was replaced less than 6 months ago. All terminals/connections to the battery and alternator are not loose. After trying to restart the car twice, it finally started on the third try with hesitation. From there, I was able to continue to the school (less than a mile - it's only 1.3 miles from my house to the school). When I got back home, I let the car sit for roughly 2-3 minutes and restarted it again - no hesitation. After looking for answers online, I've found at least 34 identical problems with no explanation and no help from Dodge/Chrysler. (except for one or two engine replacements). (carcomplaints.com) I am scared to drive my car to work, as I don't want it to stall on the highway and get in an accident, especially because I have two children that are picked up from my work. This is only going to cause a fatal accident if something isn't done about this. We've had nothing but problems with this car (radio freezes and restarts intermittently, transmission will shift hard, etc.).

This is a beautiful car however I have been smelling a chemical smell similar to melting plastic or rubber sinve I purchased it in January at 39,000 miles. My passengers also smell it. The dealership did not and they did not investigate further. Now the smell has gotten worse and is more like antifreeze and melting plastic. The smell happens most noticeably after exiting the highway and comingvto a stop. My passengers all notice it. I ride with the windows lowered slightly to bring in fresh air. Also the air conditioning has been turning on on its own, the backup camera recently stayed on for about a half mile after I changed from reverse to drive and began driving. Also their seems to be an occasional delay in accelleration whin shiftng gears.

Check engine light will flash while simultaneously the gear selections lights all glow red. Stability indicator signals loss as well as extremely rough shifting. Loss of reverse camera, moon roof, loss of auto windows both up and down, as well as practically all forward motion as if the transmission has suddenly stopped working. Once stopped safely and vehicle has been disabled I.T will not start without a series of steps prior to ignition. 1. press accessory button. 2. place in nuetral. 3. return to park. 4. open and close driver door. 5. apply foot to the brake pedal. 6. press ignition switch to start the vehicle. These steps allow the vehicle to become operational; however the check engine light will remain on for various lengths of time. The transmission now shifts less rough than during the initial malfunction. I have experienced this malfunction both while starting my car and during operation on the open road. At which point the vehicle becomes clearly unsafe to operate, due to loss of motion. I personally do not feel safe operating this vehicle alone and especially with my family aboard. I have researched this issue hours on end and found masses falling to the same vehicle malfunction. As of yet my specific VIN# has yet to be recalled regardless of the nature of the malfunctions. I charge you NHTSA to press upon Chrysler for safety of not only my family but all the others out in the world at risk due to faulty engineering and equipment.

This is the second time this has happened. The engine will stall randomly while driving. The first time it happened, we had to have it towed to the dealership. They said it was a sensor covered under warranty. Ok good. Well a few days after, the problem happened again. This time they say it's because the oil needed to be changed. The hud showed over 50% oil life left. The same issue happened again a few days ago. The problem seems to resolve after an oil change. I've noticed this has happened to a lot of people, but still no recalls. This is extremely dangerous. When the engine stalls, you loose power steering and brakes. This can cause a major accident. Luckily, it's only happened on surface streets. This issue needs to be looked into and fixed.

The last 2 weeks my 2014 Dodge Dart would stall in the morning. Doesn't matter when and where. It just loses all power. It wont start for several minutes. At one point at 5:30 am the car stalled on a one way street in a canyon, with backed up traffic. Today I got out of the work around 2:30 pm and while going home in busy traffic, it stalled in and was almost hit by a car behind me. I have read several complaints about the same thing and can't believe that nothing has been recalled.

Started having issues when I started leasing it in 2014.it has been taken into the dealership at least 7 times now, due to stalling out. Everytime I take it in, its because of the same issue.it stalls out at all times, whether it be pulling out of my driveway in the morning, turning slowly around the corner, driving on a local side street going 30 mph, when I started to brake before a speed bump, going 60 mph on the highway, I can keep going. Each time I have been given the run around, problem can't be duplicated, so lets guess. PCM replaced a couple times as well as the flash updates performed, PCV valve replaced multiple times and it still stalls out. Have even had to pay for a battery because they stated that was the issue before and it wasn't so I had to pay for a battery when I could have used that money for something else as I am in a tight budget as it is. As of today, the vehicle was taken to the dealership, again, (I have been to two different dealerships as well) as of today, my PCV and map sensor replaced, again. I was told from an individual from corporate that he told the dealership he wanted them to keep the vehicle to try to replicate the issue. Apparently that was not done which I will certainly be addressing with him and request be done.since the first time I brought it in, which was within the first few months of having it, there always seemed to be an issue with it being "low on oil",every single time. I think that should have raised a red flag the 3rd or 4th time I brought it in. They are playing a guessing game, not being loyal and fair.this is a huge safety concern and it needs to be taken off the market, completely. I think they are just doing anything to buy time because my lease is almost up, not fair. I already have legal counsel standing by. When someone gets killed, then they will worry about our safety.how many complaints will it take.

Vehicle was purchased used November 2016. Vehicle has around 37000 miles. While driving the vehicle it will randomly have complete loss of power and the battery light would turn on. Also, when I would try to start the vehicle after it shut off it would take a few attempts to start the vehicle again. In the past week it had happened 4 times. I have noticed it happens within 10 minutes of turning on the car and it has been sitting for 6+ hours. In one incident I was turning onto a major road and it shut off while cars were coming. This is an extreme hazard toward my safety and others.

Car wouldn't start had to replace the starting harness within the first 3 months of owning the car had to replace two batteries even after the harness was replaced but hasn't happened since. Had to replace the turbo hose assembly from pulling in oil and cracked since the oil was hot. Now im having to put in a quart of oil in it every month and I change my oil every two and half months (5,000 miles) so my engine is burning the oil off to quickly (oil consumption). Also drove hit a very small pothole and had my driver side control arm snap very very cleanly and was told that it wouldn't be covered under any warranties.

Bought a 2014 Dodge Dart 2 years. Had no problems with it till recently when car started to shut off while running in motion. I lost power steering control and power to the whole car. Incident happened on four different occasion. Three times on residential road and once on freeway. Completely a safety issue and has put my life in danger multiple times. Electronic throttle control, electronic stability control light, and check engine light turned on. Contacted Chrysler Dodge and their solution was to have me tow car to dealership and pay to have car serviced even though car is still under warranty. Car has put my life and the life of other people in danger multiple times and the company seems to not care even after contacting them formally with complaint.

I bought a brand new 2014 Dodge Dart aero and about 3 weeks after purchasing my car stalled and shut off, the transmission light came on. I took it to Dodge and they said they did not have a code but they saw an issue with my anti-lock brake system. A part to my transmission was recalled, we waiting for over 3 months for the part and upon bringing my car to the dealership they reported my car not starting. About 3 weeks after my transmission recall was "fixed" my engine starting smoking upon starting the car at least 5 times and my engine was completely replaced, they again reported my car would not crank. My car was in the shop for 27 days, two days after picking my car up it was brought back to the dealor for the car feeling like the transmission was slipping at various speeds. It's been almost 2 weieks with no update. Dodge resolutions has sent an inspector. Initially the car was purchased with about 220 miles on it, the car is only at 17,000 now.

Rental car Dodge Dart, rented on 11/23. Not sure what model year it was. The ignition switch shut off twice over four hours of driving it. Once as I was parking in a parking spot and once while I was on the highway traveling at 70mph. When I got home, I tried to see what caused it to shut off and noticed that my knee was touching the extra key on the key ring, which put a slight bit of pressure on the key in the ignition switch, causing the ignition to turn off quite easily. Luckily I was able to get the car restarted while driving, and that the highway was not curved. Otherwise, the outcome could have been much worse. Here is a video I recorded where I reproduced the conditions: Https://www.youtube.com/watch?V=1L6pczhwrrg
