CarComplaints.com Notes: The first year of the new Dodge Dart had a rough start, with owners reporting a disproportionate number of engine and transmission problems.
For transmission, the main complaints are transmission failure & rough shifting. So far, average mileage for transmission failure is 25,000 miles. Not good.
For engine problems, it usually starts with the engine light coming on for any number of reasons: bad sensors, ignition coil replacement, bad wiring, faulty gas cap ... dealers are replacing various components with varying degrees of success, or telling owners they can't duplicate the issue.

When trying to start cold, the car would not turn over at all. After 3 attempts, I pushed forward on the gear shift to make sure it was firmly in park. Then the car started. When I put it in reverse to back out, the car bucked really hard. It did that repeatedly 3-4 times. The lights on the shifting tree were all in red. Normally only the position you are in is red the rest are white. PRND. I turned the car off and took a different vehicle on my journey.
That evening I tried again, and everything worked properly. This means the Dealer is NOT going to be able to find my issue until the Warranty is out. Bet you a 100 bucks ! Dodge can not get it right on transmisions.
What the hell is their problem. Other types of vehicles have decent transmisisons. Come on Dodge !!
