CarComplaints.com Notes: The first year of the new Dodge Dart had a rough start, with owners reporting a disproportionate number of engine and transmission problems.
For transmission, the main complaints are transmission failure & rough shifting. So far, average mileage for transmission failure is 25,000 miles. Not good.
For engine problems, it usually starts with the engine light coming on for any number of reasons: bad sensors, ignition coil replacement, bad wiring, faulty gas cap ... dealers are replacing various components with varying degrees of success, or telling owners they can't duplicate the issue.

So, last time we left you with our needing another new engine. This car is now on its 3rd engine. Right after we got the car back, we were rear-ended. Not Dodge's fault, but still annoying. However, not even a day after we got the car back from the body shop (only minor damage), as I was backing out of our driveway, the bushing (the one that needed to be replaced during the recall that occurred April 2019) cracked off and the shift cable dislodged. This left the car stuck in neutral. We completed the initial repair on our own, because the dealership stated that there was a long wait for the part. (We were able to find it for $13 at Advanced Auto.) Through use of a YouTube video we were able to repair. Just very coincidental that this happened technically not even a month after we got the car back from an engine replacement.
