CarComplaints.com Notes: The first year of the new Dodge Dart had a rough start, with owners reporting a disproportionate number of engine and transmission problems.
For transmission, the main complaints are transmission failure & rough shifting. So far, average mileage for transmission failure is 25,000 miles. Not good.
For engine problems, it usually starts with the engine light coming on for any number of reasons: bad sensors, ignition coil replacement, bad wiring, faulty gas cap ... dealers are replacing various components with varying degrees of success, or telling owners they can't duplicate the issue.

When I first bought the 2013 Dart all was well. Soon it began having issues and the first sign was the time it would not shift out of first gear. I was turning left across the street and almost did not make it through the intersection. I was able to turn off the road and the way to reset it was to turn the car off for a few moments and turn it back on. All was well after that. I notified the dealer about it and all they asked was if it had a fault light on. The answer was no and they told me there was nothing they could do unless it had a fault light.
This was complete BS since I almost got crushed by oncoming traffic.
