CarComplaints.com Notes: The first year of the new Dodge Dart had a rough start, with owners reporting a disproportionate number of engine and transmission problems.
For transmission, the main complaints are transmission failure & rough shifting. So far, average mileage for transmission failure is 25,000 miles. Not good.
For engine problems, it usually starts with the engine light coming on for any number of reasons: bad sensors, ignition coil replacement, bad wiring, faulty gas cap ... dealers are replacing various components with varying degrees of success, or telling owners they can't duplicate the issue.

While changing lanes on the interstate, when I turned on my "blinker" the windshield wipers automatically turned themselves on. I looked at the control but it was on "off". I tried everything to turn them off but could not. When I turned the car off and later restarted it the wipers again were on uncontrollably. I took it into Weimer Dodge in Keyser, WV and was told the problem was the Power Steering Module. There were no parts available until March 23rd! They told me the car was not safe to drive because they could not predict if or when it would affect my power steering. I researched and found the part in Towson, MD and arrangements were made to send the needed part to the dealership that had my car. It still took a week. This issue could have caused me to wreck my car if the power steering had gone out while driving it. This should be recalled!!!
