CarComplaints.com Notes: The first year of the new Dodge Dart had a rough start, with owners reporting a disproportionate number of engine and transmission problems.
For transmission, the main complaints are transmission failure & rough shifting. So far, average mileage for transmission failure is 25,000 miles. Not good.
For engine problems, it usually starts with the engine light coming on for any number of reasons: bad sensors, ignition coil replacement, bad wiring, faulty gas cap ... dealers are replacing various components with varying degrees of success, or telling owners they can't duplicate the issue.

I noticed when I bought the car that it had an open recall on my Dart for the transmission bracket (R42) which stated the car could drop into neutral while driving, so I had it fixed. Soon after I had it fixed it started to mess up. I would be driving up to a stop light and press the brakes and the engine would tach out and so I had to coast to the side of the road and shut the car off. When I turned it back on it would tach out again. (For some reason the car tachs out at 2000 rpm in park) except in this case it revved all the way out. Well I called the dealership to explained what had just happened they said they would have to charge me to look at what they just replaced. So with that being said the car does it on a weekly basis and I'm just ready to mark it as a loss and take it to have it crushed.
