CarComplaints.com Notes: The first year of the new Dodge Dart had a rough start, with owners reporting a disproportionate number of engine and transmission problems.
For transmission, the main complaints are transmission failure & rough shifting. So far, average mileage for transmission failure is 25,000 miles. Not good.
For engine problems, it usually starts with the engine light coming on for any number of reasons: bad sensors, ignition coil replacement, bad wiring, faulty gas cap ... dealers are replacing various components with varying degrees of success, or telling owners they can't duplicate the issue.
HAD TO REPLACE 2 TIRES BECAUSE OF BUBBLES. WHEN IT GETS COLD THE REMOTE DON'T START, IN COLD WEATHER WHEN STARTED THE CAR STARTS BUT IT KEEP TRYING TO START HAVE TO STOP THE CAR THE RETRY TO START IT AGAIN 2 TO 3 TIMES
First I push button to start my car without me in it so it could warm up. It cranks and dies. OK, so I get in it , turn the ignition and when I turn lose, the starter keeps turning. I had to shut it off to stop the starter. It did this on me twice. I am so aggravated.
I love my Dart and I want it to work right. I fear that this problem could cause a fire as can my light problem. I hope to be able to put it in the shop soon and have it all fixed. This is the newest car I have ever had, I am 52, and I want it to last me. I hope these problems do not get worse. I hope that Dodge sees these complaints and care enough about their product and their customers to remedy this. Thank you.
