CarComplaints.com Notes: The first year of the new Dodge Dart had a rough start, with owners reporting a disproportionate number of engine and transmission problems.

For transmission, the main complaints are transmission failure & rough shifting. So far, average mileage for transmission failure is 25,000 miles. Not good.

For engine problems, it usually starts with the engine light coming on for any number of reasons: bad sensors, ignition coil replacement, bad wiring, faulty gas cap ... dealers are replacing various components with varying degrees of success, or telling owners they can't duplicate the issue.

The backup camera on my 2013 Dodge Dart flips upside down. I bought a new one and it still has the same damn problem. These cameras are not cheap... look on the internet to see if there is a problem with Dodge Dart backup cameras, and hello, everybody owns one of these cars - there is something going on with the camera system.

The camera one day when I put it in reverse, was upside down. So why ain't there any recalls on these cameras from Dodge? If anyone knows how to fix the problem, I am willing to listen. DODGE NEEDS TO REPAIR THE PROBLEMS WITH THE DAMN CAMERA SYSTEM WITH UCONNECT... HELP!

The center console will just randomly stop working. The radio, aux, bluetooth, CD - no sound comes out. But for some reason I can still press buttons and those will make the beeping sound. Worse, the screen won't turn off after I shut off the car so it drains my battery. The only short term solution if to unhook the battery or to get it jumped every single time I need to drive somewhere. What an awful car.

On a slightly related note, I used to have a problem where the bluetooth would never connect. This didn't work for months. One day it just magically started working again. Now the chances of it working when I turn on the car are about 50/50 (before the problem described above).

I have had 2013 Dodge since December of 2013 and in that time I have had to have it taken in to the dealer for 2 recalls and 1 other mechanical issue. Now I have an issues with cluster going dark so I can't see my speed, gas indicator, etc. That's not to mention the issues I've been having with the touch screen for the radio, climate control, phone calls, etc. Whenever it does deem to work, it doesn't work properly but I have put off fixing this issue because the dealer likes to tell me that they "couldn't recreate the problem" when I left it with them.

Battery was replaced but car wouldn't keep a charge. Dashboard lights would illuminate and then go off every 15 seconds or so without a key being in ignition. Electrical issues keep draining the battery.

Turned on the car, turned climate control to high to quickly defrost. All of a sudden the radio/climate control screen (uconnect) went out. No control of climate control now, can still control radio with steering wheel. Couldn't ride around with the hot air blowing on high all day, so I unplugged a fuss until I can service it, but don't have the money. OMG what am I gonna do?

So one day I start my car and there's absolutely nothing displaying on my dashboard. Mind you, this car has an electronic dash, so I had no speedometer, odometer, oil temp gauge, etc. Fortunately, there's a navigation system in the center console display that was still working, so I was at least able to tell how fast I was driving. I had to get the entire dashboard replaced only a couple of months after I bought this hunk of crap. So glad I got the extended warranty.
