CarComplaints.com Notes: The first year of the new Dodge Dart had a rough start, with owners reporting a disproportionate number of engine and transmission problems.

For transmission, the main complaints are transmission failure & rough shifting. So far, average mileage for transmission failure is 25,000 miles. Not good.

For engine problems, it usually starts with the engine light coming on for any number of reasons: bad sensors, ignition coil replacement, bad wiring, faulty gas cap ... dealers are replacing various components with varying degrees of success, or telling owners they can't duplicate the issue.

caught on fire

My husband and I were driving to lunch with our daughter on a highway. We were going about 65 miles an hour when we started to smell smoke. The dashboard and electrical components went out. We pulled over on the interstate when we started to see smoke. We got out and called 911. While waiting for the cops to show, the fire took off and engulfed my car in flame. Due to the fire dept taking so long to get to us, it just kept burning. My car had about 75k miles and no check engine light or any other issues were happening. Waiting on the insurance to see if they can find anything, however, it looks like most everything is gone, including the electrical components.

I brought this car in 2013 and it only had 28 miles on it and it was new. In 2016 I notice some issues with the check engine light which kept coming on and off. I only had 37000 miles on my car and you can tell I did good by my car.

I was coming home from church when I smelt a smell like a heater coming on. When I looked around thinking it's something outside the car like a fire or something. My car all of a sudden shut off and I try to restart it because I'm not aware of what is going on. I couldn't get it to start but I notice smoke coming from under my hood so I pop it to see why smoke is coming from under it. To my surprise my car is on fire and the car was totaled. I want to know how many customers has or have experience this with this car
